Ted Cruz Exposes the Hypocrisy of Runaway Texas Dems as They Continue to Insult Voters

We’ve been reporting on the stunning and brave Democrats who fled the state of Texas to avoid having a quorum so that a vote could not be taken on the election security bill that Republicans are trying to pass.

Democrats took what appeared to be a bus and then a charter flight out to Washington, D.C. looking for all the world like they were on a holiday, even having a case of beer on the bus with them. Not even Texas craft beer, but Miller Lite.

But you wouldn’t know if you listened to them preening about their “courage.” What courage? You’re pulling a political stunt to try to stop the bill from passing because you don’t have the votes and you know it.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott threatened them with arrest. “Once they step back into the state they will be arrested and brought back to the Capitol and we will be conducting business,” he said.

But they’re off preening as we reported earlier, first meeting with Kamala Harris, who compared them to people who fought and died for right the vote, an insult to every one of those people. Then the lawmakers were bragging about themselves, as we also noted.

Here’s another one:

Yeah, sure, I believe that and I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn too.

Now, just in case you weren’t clear that they were throwing a tantrum, Gene Wu removes all doubt with this post.

“To all the MAGA Troopers and GOP simps who are crying little snowflake tears about me saying that people recognized me,” he said “HAHAHA. Thanks for letting me in your little heads. I’m going to like it here.”

Imagine that this is an elected political official who talks about Americans and folks in his district this way, District 137, Southwest Houston, where there are most certainly some Republicans. But even if there weren’t, how juvenile to attack voters in this fashion, especially when he’s claiming his action is about protecting the right to vote. This is just one more example of what a lie that is.

Nothing in the bill prevents anyone from voting. Among the things in the bill is a new voter ID requirement for voting by mail, according to the Texas Tribune. But you would have that requirement if you voted in person. So why would that be a problem? Unless you want to cheat.

But Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) made an important point about this tantrum they were throwing — that to get on the plane to D.C., the runaway legislators would most likely have had to show ID somewhere along the way, and yet they don’t want to have that ID requirement on the mail-in ballot, for which they don’t want signature checks. Cruz also noted that he had previously had to research the question about the arrest of fleeing legislators and that yes, that’s a thing and the Speaker has the power to do that.

The fleeing lawmakers also didn’t wear masks either on that plane when all the rest of us peasants are still being required to wear them on the non-chartered planes. Nice to be the elite and throw tantrums, right?
