At a time when workers are still struggling, after lockdowns by politicians have kneecapped a lot of jobs and the economy, New York somehow knows exactly the thing to do to stick the knife right in and twist.
New York is going to offer one-time payments of up to $15,600 to “undocumented immigrants” who lost work during the pandemic but can’t get it through other relief methods. The effort — a $2.1 billion fund in the state budget — is by far the biggest of its kind in the U.S., the New York Times says.

I’ll bet. Why? Because there aren’t too many other states who would ever do such a thing, because politicians that would propose such a thing in most places would get booted out in the next election.
According to The NY Times, “Undocumented workers could receive up to $15,600, the equivalent of $300 per week for the last year, if they can verify that they were state residents, ineligible for federal unemployment benefits and lost income as a result of the pandemic.”
So they could get far more than some Americans got from the government through stimulus payments. Americans get $1400, illegal aliens could get $15,600? It’s supposed to replace the unemployment benefits that they wouldn’t be able to get.
Not surprisingly, this infuriated people.
This is what Biden’s Blue State bailout is paying for. https://t.co/CAUn2TPshK

Why are taxes high in New York?
So the government can pay illegal immigrants up to $15,600.
In New York, it pays to break the law. https://t.co/0BMLbxVQMm

Yup. It isn’t just the government paying for it, it’s the government paying for it with our tax dollars.
This, and New York has opted out of the IRS proposed tax break for those of us who were on unemployment last year? 😖
I support assistance for our undocumented but they could have done both.

Aren’t we in a fiscal crisis in NY? How is this being paid for?

It even flipped some folks who said they’d always voted for Democrats.
Well, guess I’m voting Republican in the next state elections. First time in my life.

Welcome to the sane side of the tracks.
Conservative humorist Razor made a suggestion.
Dear Mr Cuomo, I suffered in New York all last year during the pandemic, please send me my $15k, I will arrive in your nation to receive it next month but unfortunately do not have any proof for my claim, or documents. Thank you for being equitable.
