CNN's Brian Stelter Goes Just a Little Too Far Trying to Sell the Border Narrative, Gets a Schooling by ABC's Jon Karl

You know the story isn’t holding when even some of the media are questioning the Joe Biden narrative that there really isn’t a crisis at the border.

CNN’s Brian Stelter was slinging that bull on his show “Reliable Sources” saying that it was a “right-wing narrative” and about pressuring Biden to respond and go to the border. Well, he’s right about one thing, the Republicans are very definitely pressing Biden to do something about the crisis that he, Biden, created to stop the disaster it’s created.

Stelter must think no one is seeing what is happening if he thinks he can sell it’s just a “right wing narrative.” “That is how right-wing narratives trickle into the rest of the press and they divert attention.”

But he couldn’t even make that fly on his own show, according to Fox. While the WaPo’s Greg Sargent and Salon Writer Amanda Marcotte were good little Democratic operative automatons and agreed with the claim, ABC News correspondent Jonathan Karl then came on and punctured the narrative with a few facts.

Karl pointed out the questions reporters, including ABC’s Cecilia Vega, asked at Biden’s press conference as well as what she saw and reported at the border herself.

“Watching from home, I would’ve liked to have seen, you know, more questions, certainly questions on COVID. But there were good questions asked,” Karl said. “You pointed to Cecilia Vega. I think that’s incredibly valuable. That is not ‘right-wing talking points.’ Cecilia had just been at the border, she had just talked to migrants who have come over — including some that said point-blank that they had come because they thought they would have better treatment now that Joe Biden was president. That’s a legitimate question to put to the president and I thought that his answer was one of the more interesting moments in that press conference.”

Whoops. Not only pushing back against the narrative but also against the Biden claim that somehow blames President Donald Trump for all this surge when, in fact, as some of the illegal aliens themselves have said, they’re coming because they think they have a better chance of getting in under Biden, even wearing Biden t-shirts.

Stelter immediately moves on to another subject after that resounding comeuppance.

Good for Karl. At this point, it’s more than a little ridiculous that CNN is trying to sell this contra-factual claim. Of course, they long since gave up on journalism for straight-up Democratic advocacy.
