Swalwell Sticks His Foot in It Talking About 'Little Girls of South Asian Descent' In Effort to Save Neera Tanden's Nomination

A lot of folks are showing their strong opposition to the nomination of Clintonista Neera Tanden for the head of the OMB.

So far no Republicans have said they would support her and some of the Republicans that Democrats usually think they can sway, like Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) and Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) have announced they would not be voting for her. Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH), Sen. Shelly Moore Capito (R-WV), Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) have indicated that they would not be voting for her.

Given that they already have Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) defecting saying he will not vote for her because of her attacks on his colleagues, they’ve already lost one. Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) are also considered undecided and might defect. Sanders is one of the people who Tanden has attacked in the past.

Objections to Tanden range from people unhappy with her being divisive with her nasty attacks and promotion of conspiracy theories to not being satisfied that she is in fact qualified with the background for the position.

But that isn’t it, according to Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), who claimed that it was because of Tanden’s “South Asian” background.

So basically he’s calling Republicans and Democrats like Manchin who have issues with her racist. Nice and divisive there. It can’t possibly be because people have issues with her qualifications or actions, it always has to be race.

Of course he’s just factually wrong as well. Because the Senate might reject Tanden doesn’t say anything at all about the chances of South Asian women, as Kamala Harris and Nikki Haley, who have Indian background, could attest.

So it sounds like Swalwell is completely canceling Harris and Haley. Not a good look, especially when he’s trying to dunk on others.

And what the heck was this? Telling Haley, “Time to work?”

Bottom line? We’re seeing issues with Joe Biden’s nominees and more than just Tanden should be getting questioned by these senators. Merrick Garland’s hearing was a festival of crazy, with him not even able to say if he thought illegal entry was a crime. Pro tip? It is and anyone nominated for the position of Attorney General should know that. Garland also indicated that if a federal courthouse were attacked at night rather than during the day that it might not qualify as domestic terrorism (what the heck) and appeared to not know the facts of what happened on Jan. 6, speaking about addressing the “Capitol bombing” as though there had been a bombing during the riot at the Capitol.

Garland’s issues have nothing to do with his race, just like Tanden’s have nothing to do with her race. They have everything to do with they’re the wrong people for the jobs.
