BREAKING: US Casualties in Terrorist Attack on Military Base in Kenya

We wanted to give you an update on that al-Shabab terrorist attack we reported earlier that took place in Kenya today at Camp Simba, a military base that has housed U.S. soldiers.

Al-Shabab attacked the base with a suicide car bombing, several terrorists, and there was reportedly some small arms fire. Multiple U.S. vehicles and planes were destroyed. The attack was repelled.

Earlier reports had said that there were four terrorists killed in the attack and five arrested, but that no U.S. or Kenyan forces had been injured. They subsequently updated that report and said that the situation was “fluid” and they were still securing the base, and that they were still assessing personnel.

Unfortunately, now they are reporting that one U.S. service member and two Department of Defense contractors were killed and two DoD contractors were wounded.

As we previously reported, al-Shabab is an al-Qaeda connected group. The U.S. has been involved in fighting al-Shabab for several years in Kenya and Somalia. The U.S military has been hitting them with airstrikes. About a week ago, al-Shabab conducted a terrorist attack in Somalia where 79 people were killed in the capital. U.S. airstrikes then took out seven al-Shabab terrorists in response.

Last month, al-Shabab attacked a U.S. base in Somalia, but no one was injured.

There is no indication that this has a relation to the killing of IRGC terrorist leader Qasem Soleimani. While al-Shabab is an al-Qaeda group and is Sunni, and Iran is Shia, there have been reports of funding to al-Shabab from Iran. The terrorists are also making money by using Iran as a transit point for illicit shipments of charcoal exports, which is garnering the group millions of dollars.

But al-Shabab claimed it wasn’t connected, according to Al Jazeera. They really don’t need Iran to hate us, they’ve been fighting us for years.
