So we’ve got an Obama administration scandal going on, as some inappropriate behavior has come out with respect to the “deal” with Iran. I put deal in quotes because Iran isn’t actually committed to anything.

But regardless, the administration’s behavior around this deal is suspicious… but [mc_name name=’Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’P000603′ ] is ranting about some tangential matter. He misses the point when it comes to American and global security. What a disappointment he’s turned out to be. This is why Rand Paul would be a terrible President.

It’s been confirmed that Obama was spying on Israel during the Iran negotiations. The government was trying to listen in on conversations between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his staff. Why would Obama do this, and what would he do with this information?

I think a particularly important question is, was Obama seeking to share information about Israel with Iran, in order to curry favor to get a deal done? Considering Obama already showed no regard for the security of the world, and of Israel in particular, is it really that unreasonable to ask that?

Apparently Rand Paul though doesn’t even care about Israel. He’s more worried about ‘stifling’ members of Congress. Like you could silence a blowhard Senator or Representative that easily. It’s baffling that in response to this revelation, of Obama treating Israel as an opponent, the Senator simply dusted off his same old, tired talking points against NSA. Instead of asking “Why are we spying on Israel?” Paul asks “Why are we spying?” Instead of looking out for our greatest ally in the Middle east, he’s worried about his privileges as a Senator.

Of course, considering Paul wants to play pattycake with Vladimir Putin, maybe he does want an emasculated America that is unable to get information from anyone. He’s not just missing the point of this scandal, he’s missing the point of having a government.
