White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller is a no-nonsense, bottom-line conservative and a longtime trusted advisor to President Donald Trump.
A true conservative, Miller is not only well-respected by "our side" (including by this constitutional conservative), but he's also loathed by the Left — which I love.
This brings us to comments made by Miller on Tuesday in response to the ratcheting up of tensions following the shooting death of 37-year-old ICU nurse Alex Pretti in Minneapolis on Saturday.
To no one's surprise, the Left (including the Democrat Party and loyal left-wing media) predictably lost their collective minds, with agitators turning the streets of the out-of-control city into further chaos — rather than waiting for facts to emerge. Wait. Facts don't matter to the Left. My bad.
Perhaps in an attempt to get out ahead of the news about the Left's premature and irrational rage over the shooting, Miller said in one statement that the White House had “provided clear guidance to DHS," adding:
We are evaluating why the CBP team may not have been following that protocol.
In another statement, Miller said:
The initial statement from DHS was based on reports from CBP on the ground. Additionally, the White House provided clear guidance to DHS that the extra personnel that had been sent to Minnesota for force protection should be used for conducting fugitive operations to create a physical barrier between the arrest teams and the disruptors.

Border Czar Tom Homan posted the following on X after his meeting with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and top law enforcement officials on Tuesday.
I met with Governor Walz, Mayor Frey, and top law enforcement officials to discuss the issues on the ground in Minnesota. We all agree that we need to support our law enforcement officers and get criminals off the streets. While we don’t agree on everything, these meetings were a productive starting point and I look forward to more conversations with key stakeholders in the days ahead. President Trump has been clear: he wants American cities to be safe and secure for law-abiding residents — and they will be.
The proof will be in the proverbial pudding — but based on Frey's defiant comments following the meeting with Homan, things don't look good at all:
I also made it clear that Minneapolis does not and will not enforce federal immigration laws, and that we will remain focused on keeping our neighbors and streets safe. City leaders will continue to stay in conversation with Mr. Homan and his team.
Memo to the mayor:
The Trump administration has not only spoken loud and clear about its intentions in your intentionally out-of-control city; it has followed those words with actions — while you and your equally defiant governor continue to play stupid games. The question is, are you going to continue your unconstitutional nonsense until you win a stupid prize?
Only time will tell — but I wouldn't bet against it.
