Mark Levin Heaps Praise on 'Great Patriot' DeSantis for Leaving Race, Sends Pointed Message to Haley

As we reported earlier, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis suspended his 2024 presidential campaign on Sunday and promptly threw his support behind former President Donald Trump — leaving only former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley to attempt to derail the former president's juggernaut campaign for the GOP nomination.

Spoiler: It's not going to happen.

Shortly after DeSantis announced his decision, Fox News host Mark Levin took to X to praise the Florida governor for his "class act" decision and, in no uncertain words, to admonish Haley.

We'll get there in a minute.

So, What's Nikki's Take?

As my colleague Bob Hoge reported on Sunday afternoon, Haley appeared on "Face the Nation" earlier in the day and not only vowed to remain in the race — prior to the DeSantis announcement — she also criticized Trump's lack of "mental stability" and the "chaos" that surrounds the former president (emphasis, mine).

If you look, recently, there have been multiple things. I mean, he's claimed that Joe Biden was going to get us into World War II. I'm assuming he meant World War three.

He said that he ran against President Obama. He never ran against President Obama. He says that I'm the one that kept security from Jan- from the Capitol on January 6.

I was nowhere near the Capitol on January 6. But Margaret, you don't be surprised if you have someone that's 80 in office, their mental stability is going to continue to decline.

I mean, we're seeing he's just not at the same level he was at 2016. I think we're seeing some of that decline. But more than that, what I'll say is, focus on the fact that no matter what it is, chaos follows him. Rightly or wrongly, chaos follows him...

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that Nikki won't be getting a Christmas card from Donald this year.

So let's get back to Levin. Always incisive, the host of "Life, Liberty & Levin" needed just one paragraph on X to praise DeSantis — and dismiss Haley.

Ron DeSantis is a great patriot and class act. He’s a solid, principled conservative and a kind and decent man. He’s a superb governor and has a great future. The Governor did the right thing in suspending his campaign and endorsing President Trump. Nikki Haley must and will be defeated. Then on to Biden, who is destroying our magnificent country, and the election of President Trump, who will reverse America’s decline at the hands of the radical Democrats.

Yup, it almost looks like the only Republican who isn't calling it over for Nikki Haley today is Nikki Haley.

During his campaign suspension announcement, DeSantis also took a few shots at Haley, saying in part:

I am proud to have delivered on 100 percent of my promises and I will not stop now. It’s clear to me that a majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance. They watched his presidency get stymied by relentless resistance and they see Democrats using lawfare to this day to attack him.

While I have had disagreements with Donald Trump, such as on the coronavirus pandemic and his elevation of Anthony Fauci, Trump is superior to the current incumbent, Joe Biden. That is clear.

I signed a pledge to support the Republican nominee and I will honor that pledge. He has my endorsement because we can’t go back to the old Republican guard of yesteryear — a repackaged form of warmed-over corporatism — that Nikki Haley represents. The days of putting Americans last, of kowtowing to large corporations, of caving to woke ideology, are over.

Ouch.

So What Does Trump Think About DeSantis's Decision?

As reported by RedState's Jennifer Van Laar, the former president was gracious after learning of DeSantis's decision to suspend his campaign.

Very honored to have his endorsement. I look forward to working together with him to beat Joe Biden, who is the worst and most corrupt president in the history of our country.

Nicely said, Donald.

The Bottom Line

As to be expected, keyboard jockeys across America quickly began to speculate about a Trump-DeSantis ticket in November. I don't see that happening for a number of reasons.

Then again, as I've already written once, today, we will see things happen over the next 10 months — likely from both parties — that we've never seen in a presidential election year. And zero will surprise me. What about you?
