Bud Light to Sponsor Three Different Pride Events, Proving It Learned Zero From Dylan Mulvaney Disaster

Life’s axioms hang around for decades or longer for one simple reason: they’re generally true. Hence, “You get what you pay for,” “When the going gets tough, the tough get going,” “It’s not what happens that matters, it’s how you react to it,” and “When you’re in a hole, stop digging” are familiar to all of us.

This article is about the final axiom, above, with a slight modification: “When you’re in a hole you intentionally dug, stop the hell digging before you make a disastrous self-inflicted crisis even worse.”

Bud Light was unavailable for comment.

With the everyman beer brand practically on life support and Anheuser-Busch InBev stock taking a beating, it turns out that Bud Light is set to sponsor three different Gay Pride events in the coming months. As reported by Daily Wire, the A-B brand is listed as a sponsor on the Cincinnati Pride Parade website, along with Planned Parenthood and the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, which “medically transitions” — irreversibly mutilates with double mastectomies, castrations, and chemical castrations — children.

Here’s detail on the other Pride events Bud Light is set to sponsor, via Daily Wire.

Meanwhile, in St. Louis, Missouri, where Anheuser-Busch is headquartered, the company is listed as the presenting sponsor of the St. Louis Pride Parade. A sponsorship packet explains that there are only four “presenting sponsor” slots available. The “Rainbow” sponsorship tier, located below the “presenting sponsor” tier, requires entities to pay $25,000.

Bud Light is also listed as a “Diamond Sponsor” of Stonewall Columbus, which organizes and hosts the annual Columbus, Ohio, Pride Parade. The “diamond” sponsorship tier requires companies to donate $20,000, a document from the organization specifies. The document also adds, “All Stonewall Columbus sponsors must affirm Stonewall’s diversity, equity, and inclusion policies AND agree to donate no less than 8 hours of volunteer time during a calendar year.”

Anheuser-Busch was also listed as a premier sponsor for the San Francisco Pride Parade in 2022. The 2023 sponsors of the San Francisco Pride Parade have not yet been released.

Bud Light was also listed as a sponsor of the Chicago Pride Parade on a page that has since been deleted, along with this boast from the embattled brand: “We have a clear role to play in bringing real change and creating an inclusive and equitable world where we cherish and celebrate.”

Yeah, well, one would think that Bud Light’s paramount clear role to play would first be to do whatever it must do to stop hemorrhaging once-loyal customers, sales and profits, and disgruntled AB InBev shareholders. And as we’ve consistently seen, one would be dead wrong.

Yet still, Bud Light continues to dig its hole ever deeper.

Effective Boycotts Require Two Key Elements

Boycotts that work generally have two critical elements in common.

First, alternatives to boycotted products are readily available. Given that Bud Light isn’t exactly a craft beer, enraged Bud Light drinkers easily switched to Miller Lite, Coors Light, Corona Light, and other alternatives.

Second, effectively boycotted companies experience measurable negative results due to a boycott. So with Bud Light sales continuing to fall, along with A-B Inbev stock prices, boycotters can not only see that they’re having a direct effect on the corporation; those negative results generally continue to give the boycott legs.

The Bottom Line

So why does Bud Light intentionally continue to dig the hell out of its self-created hole?

As Yoda might say, “Is very strong, Bud Light’s commitment to woke. Hrrrmmm.”

No word if Yoda drank Bud Light before the Dylan Mulvaney mess, but he looks more like a Hazy IPA guy.
