CNN Blistered for Story on NC Town Manager, Police Dept. With Yet Another 'Despicable' Race-Baiting Headline

“THIS… Is CNN.” “CNN: Facts First.” “The Most Trusted Name in News.” Ridiculously inaccurate mottos of a “news” outlet rocked by scandal, resignations, and high-profile firings, and whose ratings have swirled down the toilet at least as fast as those of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

Why, it’s “almost” like, despite promises from CNN’s new head honcho Chris Licht to be more newsworthy — honest, accurate, and unbiased — CNN continues to purposely shoot itself in its lying left foot. Such was the case on Friday, when the network ran a story about the entire police force of Kenly, North Carolina, resigned, citing “a hostile work environment” as the reason, after a new town manager was hired.

Fox News accurately reported the news under this headline: Entire North Carolina Police Department Resigns After New Town Manager is Hired.

And, CNN? Never let a good (self-created) opportunity go to waste — particularly, a race-baiting opportunity. That, America, should be CNN’s motto. Here’s how the network of Brian Stelter, Don Lemon, and Anderson headlined the news: An entire North Carolina police department resigned after a Black woman town manager was hired.

Just one problem.

As Mark Hemingway, senior writer at RealClear Investigations and husband of Fox news contributor Mollie Hemingway noted, the town’s previous city manager was also black, a fact that CNN didn’t bother to mention until paragraph 17 of its race-baiting hit piece. “Totally irresponsible journalism designed to create discord,” Hemingway correctly noted.

As reported by Fox, Police Chief Josh Gibson, his entire force, and other town officials submitted mass-resignation letters, citing stress, a hostile work environment, and an inability to continue the department’s long-term betterment projects. Chief Gibson expressed regret about the negative changes he felt were occurring in his department.

In a letter to the new town manager, Justine Jones, Gibson wrote:

In my 21 years at the Kenly Police Department, we have seen ups and downs. But, especially in the last 3 years, we have made substantial progress that we had hoped to continue. However, due to the hostile work environment now present in the Town of Kenly, I do not believe progress is possible.

Officer G.W. Strong took it a step further, saying he is concerned about his safety.

It is with a heavy heart that I take this action. I have been with the town since 2004 and fully expected to finish my law enforcement career with the Town of Kenly.

Unfortunately, there are decisions being made that jeopardize my safety and make me question what the future will hold for a Kenly Police Officer.

As CNN finally reported — again, in the 17th paragraph:

Others in the community say they believe there is not a racial component to the situation due to the fact the previous town manager was a Black man. Some residents also cautioned against jumping to conclusions, saying they’ve always had a good relationship with the police department.

Incidentally, Jones, who was hired in June, was fired by Kenly nearly eight years earlier, which the town touted in a press release at the time.

Let’s check in with CNN’s Brian Stelter for a— wait — never mind.
