There It Is: Veteran Journalist Blames Lapdog Media's 'Bothsideism' for Biden's Disastrous Presidency

That’s right, America. The sock puppets of the Democrat state media have not only failed Joe Biden and his presidency; they’ve also failed you. They’ve failed all of us by engaging in far too much “bothsideism,” not carrying enough water for Joe, and being far too objective with the other side of the political aisle.

What planet does this guy live on?

“This guy” is veteran journalist Marvin Kalb, the founding director of the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics, and Public Policy at Harvard University. In a piece for Brookings, titled Press ‘Bothesideism’ Has Failed Biden, and America, Kalb — with a (smug) straight face, claimed:

The American press corps struggles every day to prove to readers and viewers that it is “fair and balanced,” the slogan cleverly adopted by Fox News.

If it strongly criticized Donald Trump during his presidency (and since), then it follows that it must also strongly criticize Joe Biden, which is exactly what it’s done.

Fair, isn’t it? Balanced, too, right?

Wrong.

Speaking of “cleverly,” Kalb purposely chose “criticizing,” over more honest terms, such as “being fair” or being objective.” You know, Mr. Kalb — real journalisming.

Kalb continued to wax idiotic:

Not only does criticism not come in equal shapes and sizes, appropriate for all presidents and both political parties (a journalistic curse called “bothsideism”), but, when unfairly applied, as it has been in covering Biden, it runs the serious risk of further damaging our still free press and weakening our already shaky democracy.

The press image of Biden, president of the United States of America, has been whittled down to that of a doddering old man, wobbly on his feet and barely able to articulate a single thought without slurring.

Is that a fair and balanced image of Biden? Hardly. But can the press do better?

Again, what planet did you say you’re from? Or have you been in a cave for six years?

Surely, Mr. Journalist, you’re not suggesting that the liberal media has been harder on poor Joe Biden or Hillary Clinton than on Donald Trump, right? And Marvin? Biden is a doddering old man, wobbly on his feet and barely able to articulate a single thought without slurring. To report otherwise would not only not be fair and balanced — it would be a bald-faced lie. (See: CNN and MSNBC.) And please explain to me how that would be fair and balanced and in the best interests of the American people, Mr. Kalb. I’ll wait.

Kalb then got downright hilarious:

Still, Biden survived his first few months in office in reasonably good shape. His approval rating was a respectable 55%. Some journalists were willing to give the new president the benefit of the doubt on controversial issues.

But, as we know, Biden’s poll numbers dropped dramatically after he made the controversial decision in August, 2021, to withdraw the last contingent of American forces from Afghanistan under conditions that were, to say the least, challenging.

For a few weeks, news stories from the Kabul airport were devastatingly critical of Biden’s decision, and by month’s end, his poll numbers had dropped to 50%. Since then, they’ve dropped even further, dangling now in the mid-30’s.

What we have all noticed is that as Biden’s poll numbers collapsed, negative coverage of him rose, leading in turn to still lower poll numbers, which have only further darkened his political prospects, a looping interaction between polling and press negativity from which there seems no escape.

Dude, c’mon — now you’re just messin’ with us. A veteran journalist honestly suggesting that the above is not the exact nature of all politics and politicians is astonishing.

Moreover, Kalb’s assertion that Biden’s collapsing poll numbers and justified negative media coverage of his failures have been to blame for his ever-lower approval ratings is a complete crock of crap. Biden’s never-ending list of self-created failures is the reason, Mr. Kalb.

Still, “By living on negativity,” Kalb obscured, “the press has only compounded the inherent problems of governing a democracy already spinning out of control.”

If our democracy is “spinning out of control,” Mr. Kalb — which it is — it is due to the undemocratic actions of the radical left, including attempting to assassinate an associate justice of the United States Supreme Court, firebombing crisis pregnancy centers, declaring the Court “illegitimate” and calling for its demise — or packing — most of which has either been supported by Biden or his failure to condemn.

And, why? Because the Supreme Court correctly returned the issue of abortion to elected officials of the states — including on-demand abortion (AKA: murder) until birth. Or, as Joe Biden calls it, Mr. Kalb, an essential health care service.

The bottom line:

I’ll say it again: The hypocrisy of the left knows no bounds. But in this case, a once-respected veteran journalist not only demonstrated the depth of liberal hypocrisy; he did so, brazenly — condemning the already-biased-as hell left-wing media for failing to be even more biased as hell.
