CNN Analyst Has 'No Idea' What's Behind 'Smash and Grab' Robberies — Then Gives up the Answer

RIC FELD

In today’s episode of “This… Is CNN… The Most Trusted Name in News™”…

A CNN analyst — a former Philadelphia police commissioner and CNN senior law enforcement analyst, no less — serves up a perfect example of why CNN’s ratings continue to swirl down the toilet at breakneck speed. Simply put, can’t make it up; don’t have to. And the best part is they totally don’t get it. Or do they?

Either way, this guy rivals Fredo Cuomo, Don Lemon, and Brian Stelter in mental acuity.

First, a bit of background.

As we’ve reported, flash-mob robberies, so-called “smash and grabs,” which are rampant  — wait for it — in many Democrat-run cities across America, have become all the rage. As is the case with any important issue facing the country, the key question is why are they occurring and what do have to do to stop them?

In what can only be described as “the genius of CNN,” the above-mentioned analyst, Charles Ramsey, has pondered the same question. While the former police commissioner and law enforcement analyst claims to have “no idea” why the wave of robberies continues to occur (utter nonsense; of course he knows exactly why the robberies continue to occur), he did manage to provide the answer while pretending to be clueless.

As reported by NewsBusters on Saturday, here’s Ramsey in all his dishonest glory (emphasis, mine):

“Many of the young people we arrested had no previous criminal records. And why they were getting involved in something like this I have no idea . . . So I don’t know what’s driving this.”

OK, fine. And?

“The punishment for this kind of crime is very, very minimal. [We know.] In most cases, it’s a misdemeanor. [Yeah, we know that. as well.]

“There are some DAs that have flat-out said they’re no longer going to prosecute shoplifting.” [Hmm. You think that might have something to do with the problem, genius?]

This guy is completely full of crap.

So, how bad is the problem?

As reported by The Blaze, this bad:

Earlier this month in Walnut Creek, California, a roving band of at least 80 armed and masked burglars descended on a Nordstrom department store, smashing shelves and making off with scores of stolen goods.

Around the same time, more than a dozen masked burglars in the Chicago suburbs rushed into a Louis Vuitton store and stole over $100,000 in product for the third time in a matter of weeks.

Yet, left-wing lunatics like San Francisco Mayor London Breed, as reported by my colleague Kira Davis on Tuesday, is pretty sure the root of the problem is failing to limit traffic and public parking.

Again, can’t make it up; don’t have to.

“We’re going to be making some changes to Union Square and how cars are able to access. There will be limited access in terms of when you come to this area […] for the foreseeable future.”

How can I put this tactfully? Another complete crock of crap. This Black Lives Matter apologist knows damn well why “smash and grab” robberies are plaguing Democrat-run cities and will continue to do so — as she herself admitted. Black perpetrators are not only aware of the ridiculously mild repercussion they’ll face if they get caught they are more than eager to continue robbing, knowing those consequences.

Blatantly so, in the bright of day — because they believe they are “owed” whatever they steal. The left believes that, as well. Well deserved “retribution,” as it were, against racist, white America.

Meanwhile, CNN continues to do its thing — and we all know what that means:
