Rittenhouse Speaks on Record After Verdict: 'We Made It Through the Hard Part'

There are two breaking stories, here.

First, Kyle Rittenhouse has spoken on the record at length, after a Wisconsin jury on Friday found him not guilty on all five charges in what was, hands down, the murder trial of 2021.

Second, Fox News host Tucker Carlson landed the interview —arguably the interview of the year — as well. Rittenhouse will appear on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Monday at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Rittenhouse will also be appearing in a “Tucker Carlson Originals” documentary on Fox Nation set to premiere in December.

“Self-defense is not illegal,” the 18-year-old said after being acquitted:

“The jury reached the right verdict. Self-defense is not illegal, and I believe they came to the correct verdict, and I’m glad that everything went well.

“It’s been a rough journey, but we made it through it. We made it through the hard part.”

Rittenhouse told Carlson’s crew he had trouble sleeping throughout the trial, and that he dreams about the deadly night, “every single day.”

“It’s the stuff that keeps you up at night, like once you do get to sleep, your dreams are about what happened and you’re waking up in a dark cold sweat.

“It’s quite scary actually, because the dreams feel so real.

And they’re not the same at all, they’re all different. They’re the different scenarios that run through your head during the day, like, what could have happened.”

As a parent watching parts of the trial, and clips from that night in Kenosha — a night that should never have happened that changed the lives of countless people forever — I sometimes thought of my own kids.

While I questioned the wisdom of Rittenhouse’s decision to enter the streets and do what he could do for the community, I never questioned Kyle’s motives — despite the despicable comments to the contrary from the occupant of the White House.

In the Tucker promo clip, Rittenhouse also reflected on his own life.

“I’m alive, but what could have happened, like what if I wasn’t alive, or what if I did let Mr. Rosenbaum steal my gun?

“It’s those types of dreams … almost every outcome is me getting seriously injured or hurt or dead.

“Those are the dreams I have on a daily basis.”

I suspect Kyle Rittenhouse will continue to have those terrible dreams for months, if not years, to come.
