BLM NYC Leader Who Threatened 'Riots' and 'Bloodshed' Walks off Interview When Called Out

New York City Mayor-elect Eric Adams vowed last week that he will reinstate plainclothes, anti-crime police units in his violently out-of-control city. “Shockingly,” the units were disbanded by the worst mayor in the history of the known universe, soon-to-be-ex, Bill de Blasio. “I’m going to put in place a plainclothes gun unit. We must zero in on gun violence in our community,” vowed Adams, on Thursday.

Like clockwork, as reported by RedState the same day, Black Lives Matter NYC leader Hawk Newsome promptly threatened Adams over the reinstatement, vowing ‘riots” and “bloodshed.”

“If they think they are going back to the old ways of policing then we’re going to take to the streets again. There will be riots. There will be fire, and there will be bloodshed.”

Somewhat surprising, Newsome later agreed to an interview with Fox News host and former NYPD cop Dan Bongino, to discuss the announcement by Adams and the BLM leader’s threat of violence in response.

Bad idea.

As reported by The New York Post, Newsome stormed out of the interview, which aired Saturday night, after Bongino called him “a coward” for failing to condemn the “riots and burning down buildings” that have taken place in New York City after police-involved incidents, which escalated in 2020.

The interview was mostly cordial at first, but it went off the rails — bigly — when Bongino said:

“You don’t want riots, right? You don’t want riots, correct? And violence? I just want to get you on the record.”

Newsome dug his heels in:

“I’m going on the record right now. As Dr. [Martin Luther] King said, riots are the voice of the unheard. It’s a natural occurrence that if people continue to be traumatized and oppressed they will lash out.”

After Newsome said the Boston Tea Party was a riot, Bongino shot back:

“I’m not asking about the Boston Tea Party, Hawk. I’m asking you a simple question: Do you condemn violence or not?”

Newsome continued to refuse to respond directly, prompting Bongino to take another shot:

“Do you condemn riots and burning down buildings after a police use-of-force incident you don’t like?”

Finally, this from Newsome:

“No. What I’ll say is, I understand when a police officer unjustifiably kills someone, why people lash out. I understand that completely. I’m not going to condemn, nor am I going to condone it.”

Bullcrap. Newsome made the Cowardly Lion look like a piker with that noncommital tripe.

Bongino was done — in terms of even a semblance of patience with this guy:

“Isn’t that cowardly? ‘I’m not going to condemn it, but I’m not going to condone it — so I don’t want to take a stand’? You seem to talk a lot of junk and then when I put you on the spot you won’t answer a damn question.

Do you condone violence or do you condemn violence? You’re all over the place. Just condemn violence and the burning of buildings down. How hard is this?”

Again, Newsome said he doesn’t condemn the violence nor does he condone it, prompting Bongino to again call him a coward.

“Man, that’s just cowardly, man. That’s just cowardly.”

At that point, Newsome stood up, removed his earpiece, and said:

“No, you’re a coward! You’re trying to bait me. I’m outta here. God Bless.”

And that was that.

Hawk Newsome is a lot of things, but stupid isn’t one of them. Like all good leftists, he says just enough “good stuff,” knowing full well that too much “bad stuff” will make it tough for Democrat lawmakers and liberal media lapdogs to champion him and his “peaceful” band of thugs. Contrary to the views of some, these people are far from stupid.

And kudos to Bongino for taking Newsome to the mat. Meanwhile, CNN’s Don Lemon and MSNBC’s Joy Reid call Dan Bongino a “white supremacist racist” in 3… 2… 1… Again.

In somewhat related news, as RedState reported on Saturday, a known liberal billionaire tweeted his support for Kyle Rittenhouse after watching the 18-year-old’s testimony in Kenosha, prompting at least one member of the media to call and ask if his Twitter account had been hacked.

Hawk Newsome obviously showed up at the wrong network for the wrong interview with the wrong guy.
