Boulder Shooting Tragedy: Oh Look, Like Clockwork, Here Come the Gun Grabbers

I have zero doubt that before the tragic shooting inside a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado, was brought to an end on Monday, many in the gun-grabber crowd were already springing into action — if not pleasantly looking at the opportunistic “silver lining” behind the terrible cloud that resulted in the deaths of 10 Coloradans, including a beloved police officer.

And how proud must former Chicago Jesus Barack Obama stooge Rahm “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste” Emanuel be of the disciples of his “progressive” admonition?

So, like clockwork, the gun-control crowd is off to the races — bigly. All in the name of “common sense,” you know. As gleefully reported by CNN — AKA: “The Most Trust Name in News” [rolling-eyes emoji] — Colorado Democrat Rep. Jason Crow on Tuesday morning called on Congress to act on measures he said would make communities safer.

“There are common-sense laws and legislation that we can pass that will help make our communities safer. We just have to get them done. It’s that simple.”

Uh-huh. “Common sense” to people who believe banning firearms from law-abiding gun owners will make people safer, failing to understand that the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun — law officer or civilian — and slapping “Gun-Free Zone” signs on schools, movie theaters, and wherever the hell else will stop in his tracks a deranged lunatic intent on killing as many people as possible.

In other words, pretty much the entirety of the Democrat Party, the liberal lapdog media, Hollywood Looney Tunes, and “enlightened progressives” across the fruited plain.

And what gun-grabber discussion would be complete without Illinois Democrat Sen. Dick Durbin? As reported by USA Today, senators on Tuesday “debated with new urgency” how to address “gun violence in America following a string of this mass shootings this past week.”

Durbin went classic Durbin, calling gun violence a “public health crisis,” and saying he could ask for a moment of silence, but “in addition, I would like to ask for a moment of action. A moment of real caring.”

“Prayer leaders have their important place in this, but we are Senate leaders. What are we doing? We won’t solve this crisis with prosecutions after funerals. We need prevention before shooting.”

Did I mention that the Illinois senator never seems to get around to calling the murderous bloodbath on Chicago’s Southside streets a “public health crisis”? On the contrary, Durbin has mostly been [cue the crickets]. You don’t suppose it’s because those gun murders are overwhelmingly black-on-black crime, do you? Surely, Dicky isn’t a hypocrite, right?

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, being the boss he is, called the Democrat charade exactly what it was — and will continue to be.

“[There have been] far too many tragedies in our country” and something must be done. But every time there’s a shooting, we play this ridiculous theater where this committee gets together and proposes a bunch of laws that would do nothing to stop these murders.”

Cruz, of course, is correct.

What do Democrats think the Boulder shooter and other lunatic shooters would have done if stringent gun-control laws — including a ban on the non-existent “assault rifle” AR-15? Does the Left believe these maniacs would say to themselves, “Well, hell. I was going to kill as many innocent people as I could, today, but then I realized I couldn’t legally buy an AR-15, so never mind.”? Or, gun-grabbers, is it possible that these lunatics would simply find other means by which to cause mass fatalities? I await your response with bated breath.

Nonetheless, neither facts nor logic deterred Connecticut Democrat Sen. Chris Murphy from making the same kind of idiot statement as others on full display by Tuesday morning.

“This is the moment to make our stand. NOW. Today, our movement is stronger than the gun lobby. They are weak. We are potent. Finally, a President and a Congress that supports gun reform. No more Newtowns. No more Parklands. No more Boulders. Now – we make our stand.”

“Now we have a perfect opportunity to do exactly what our comrade Rahm admonished us to do, my fellow Democrats! We must not let this crisis go to waste!”

Sparticus also weighed in with typical Sparticus comments — in which I had zero interest, so check ’em out for yourself if you are so inclined. [sarc]

It gets “better.”

In addition to the horrific tragedy in Boulder on Monday, gun-grabbing Democrats have in-hand what they no doubt view as a perfect “Gotcha! We told you so!” moment.

As the Denver Post reported on Tuesday, a Colorado judge blocked an “assault weapons” ban just ten days prior to Monday’s shooting.

Ten days before a gunman killed 10 people at a Boulder, Colorado, supermarket, a judge blocked the city from enforcing a ban on assault weapons and large-capacity magazines — likely setting up a renewed gun control debate in the state.

Boulder County District Judge Andrew Hartman ruled on March 12 that the city could not enforce its 2018 ordinance banning possession, transfer, or sale of assault weapons and large-capacity magazine since state law says local governments can’t block the possession or sale of firearms.

“These provisions are invalid, and enforcement of them is enjoined,” wrote Hartman. The court has determined that only Colorado state (or federal) law can prohibit the sale and transfer of assault weapons and large-capacity magazines.”

As with the case with Cruz’s comments, bingo.

Also on Tuesday morning, as reported by Forbes, The National Rifle Association at the time moved quickly to support the court’s decision against the ban.

“ICYMI: A Colorado judge gave law-abiding gun owners something to celebrate. In an @NRAILA-supported case, he ruled that the city of Boulder’s ban on commonly-owned rifles (AR-15s) and 10+ round mags was preempted by state law and STRUCK THEM DOWN.”

NRA: 1, Gun-grabbers: 0.

Via the NRA-ILA website:

On Friday evening, a judge in the Centennial state gave law-abiding gun owners something to celebrate. He ruled that the city of Boulder’s ban on possessing and transferring commonly-possessed “assault weapons” and ten-round magazines was preempted by state law and struck them down. This was an NRA-ILA supported case.

The city council should have listened to the city attorney. His repeated attempts to warn them that they did not have the authority to pass these ordinances were cited throughout the opinion. The opinion is also very thoroughly and thoughtfully written, which will make it even harder to overturn, should the city appeal it.

While the holding only applies to the Boulder ordinances, the principles behind the ruling will apply to other localities who are considering passing any similar counterproductive ordinances.

Gun-grabbers gonna gun-grab, America. It’s what they do.

And we must fight them, every step away. Constitutional Amendments —including the applicable Second — require 60-vote “supermajorities” to pass, so that option is all-but-certain DOA for Chucky and the Democrats.

However, given the Democrats — including Uncle Pudding Joe Biden and his penchant for signing unconstitutional royal edicts — and their hellbent drive to destroy individual liberty in America as fast as they can, we can expect various gun-control measures to be rammed through Congress and straight to Biden’s eagerly-awaiting pen.

As we also reported on Tuesday, the shooter —  Ahmad Al-Issa — was an anti-Trump left-wing extremist with “ISIS sympathies,” as admitted by the White House, who posted multiple hateful, vitriolic posts on Facebook.

Kinda blows that whole “right-wing extremist” label, huh?
