Bernie Sanders Vows to Boycott Congressional Address by Benjamin Netanyahu - No One Cares

Bernie Sanders vows that he will not attend Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress. He will not be missed.

The Prime Minister was invited by both Democrats and Republicans alike in what congressional leaders say is a move to “highlight American solidarity with Israel.” Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson, Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Democrat Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and Democrat House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries signed the letter that was sent to Netanyahu.

Bernie Sanders' motto is "Not me, us." Apparently, that doesn't apply here as he will not be joining his other friends on the left for the event.

Sanders claims that he supports Israel's right to defend itself but not to go to war against the entire Palestinian people. He does not explicitly describe how a country would go about doing this under the conditions that Israel has faced. He simply says they are doing it wrong.

In 2023, there were estimated 2.1 million people living in Gaza. Even with the unreliable and often inflated death count reports from the conflict, which state that approximately 30,000 Palestinians have died in the war, that would be less than 1.5 percent of the population. If Israel wanted to go to war against the Palestinian people, they have the means to do so. The numbers show great restraint, given the circumstances.

But, alas, in Sanders' fluff universe, you can make things up and the facts don't matter.

Bernie is famous for his beliefs in universal policies that mimic the European countries he seems so fond of. Some people choose a beach, or a quiet cabin in the mountains, or a lively city with great restaurants for their honeymoon. He chose the Soviet Union.

It's no wonder this communist sympathizer can't understand Israel's right to safety and the actual real-world costs of freedom. Between him and the Squad, the Left has their hands full with politicians who do not understand the Western mind and are either overtly or covertly anti-American.

The bipartisan invitation is an opportunity to build bridges with one of our strongest allies through an unimaginable conflict:

The existential challenges we face, including the growing partnership with Iran, Russia, and China, threaten the security, peace, and prosperity of our countries and of free people around the world. To build on our enduring relationship and highlight America’s solidarity with Israel, we invite you to share the Israeli government's vision for defending democracy, combating terror, and establishing a just and lasting peace in the region.

Truth be told, Bernie won't be missed. Netanyahu will not lose sleep over his empty seat, and neither should we. If Bernie really wants to go all out, maybe he can invite Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib over for his "boycott" party. We will all be the better for it.
