Anti-policing foundation member and Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams seems to be spending a lot of money on her own security while wanting to defund security for the rest of us.

According to the New York Post, Abrams spent over $500,000 on security services since December.

On the campaign trail, Abrams’ opponent, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and his campaign team have accused Abrams of supporting the movement to defund police, as she is part of the anti-policing foundation. Tate Mitchell, Kemp’s press secretary, told the Post:

“While she tries to run from her record of supporting — and profiting from — the defund the police movement, Governor Kemp will continue to stand with the men and women in law enforcement that keep our communities safe.”

Governor Kemp told Fox News Digital that as she champions the defund police movement, she also pays more for private security “than her liberal pals in Congress”:

“Despite being the faces of the far-left movement demonizing police across the country, even the Squad falls short of Stacey Abrams’ double standard … Abrams champions – and continues to profit from – the ‘Defund the Police’ movement, while also paying more than her liberal pals in Congress for private security,” he added. “Abrams’ dangerous agenda and outrageous hypocrisy put herself ahead of the safety and security of Georgia families.”

Abrams does not hold public office, yet she has spent more than the “Squad” members on this. According to Fox News Digital, the Federal Election Commission records showed that the six members of the “Squad” spent more than $325,000 on private security.

The hypocrisy continues from Democrats who advocate defunding the police, while paying hundreds of thousands for their own security. A big chunk of the “Squad” spending money on private security came from Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO), who spent more than $300,000 on private security–while she has continuously wanted to defund the police.

Tate Mitchell slammed Abrams’ hypocrisy in a statement to Fox News Digital:

“Stacey Abrams’ jaw-dropping hypocrisy knows no limits. While she tries to run from her record of supporting – and profiting from – the Defund the Police movement, Governor Kemp will continue to stand with the men and women in law enforcement that keep our communities safe.”

Abrams, Bush, and others are able to protect themselves through security. For an average person, a police officer and the police department are their security. It is vitally important for every public figure to remain safe; however, those public figures who choose to have private security or pay for security services should not be advocating to defund the police. They must instead work to keep their districts and communities safe by working with police officers and law enforcement.
