The last caucuses have (finally) closed in Maine, and based on early results, the Ace of Spades Decision Desk has already called it for Cruz. The major networks don’t give any indication that they are even close to calling it yet, but I am not aware that the Decision Desk has ever been wrong.

If this result holds, it would be an absolutely stunning win for Ted Cruz and would be the first piece of evidence that Cruz has the ability to win outside of a deeply evangelical state like Iowa or Oklahoma.

It also would be a devastating loss for Marco Rubio, whose argument has always been that he would perform better in these Northeastern states, and who currently is in last behind John Kasich.

This could be the second step in a very good night for Ted Cruz.
