Veteran Democrat strategist James Carville once again sounded the alarm to the Democratic Party, this time about the "potentially damaging event" of Democrat socialist Zohran Mamdani's mayoral primary victory in New York City.
During the "Politics War Room (with James Carville and Al Hunt)" podcast, the two discussed the shocking victory of the radical Muslim socialist over disgraced former NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo, with Hunt suggesting it will turn out to be a "gift to Republicans."
As RedState has reported, the self-described Democrat Socialist calls for crazy things like government-run grocery stores, rent freezes, and is fine with uttering the phrase "Globalize the intifada!"
The Dem strategist noted how Mamdani "has not walked back" calls for "global infitada" [sic].
"Maybe he'll turn out to be a very skilled candidate that can skillfully navigate some of what I refer to as 'esoteric' positions," Carville said. "There's a lot of baseball left here. We've got a lot of baseball left to play."
Hunt replied, "However, I do believe that Republicans will jump on this," and Carville agreed.
"I can't imagine that any Democratic candidate anywhere in the country is going to be able to escape answering this question. I think the microphone's going to follow him around. I think that they're going to pound this home as hard as they possibly can," Carville said.
"Depending on who comes in a general election, there's a lot of Democrats that are going to have a hard go at this. I think it's a potentially damaging event," he added.
Carville said he feared Mamdani's victory was not just about a different ideology about the party but what could be a "generational" shift for the Democrats' future.
Hunt later agreed and said, "I think this guy creates probably more problems than opportunities for the Democrats."
Carville also compared Mamdani's inability to respond to questions about the crazy comments he's made in the past to Kamala Harris' struggle to answer questions about things she said, which hurt her in the 2024 Presidential campaign.
He warned Republicans are going to "keep unearthing stuff."
"I mean, he's gotta give an umbrella answer for all of this," Carville said. "You know, Harris had the same problem."

This is not the first time Carville has tried to right the Democrats' ship, which seems to be fine, allowing the radical left to take over his party.
The strategist recently blasted Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) after an old video resurfaced of her making racist comments about white men as the leading cause of deaths in America, RedState reported.
"And there are people that agree with her! There are people that actually agree with her," Carville raged at the Truth Tellers Summit. "And I think it's — honestly, I think these people are more trouble than they're worth."
Rusty Weiss reported that:
Carville wasn't even vaguely finished yet. He came loaded for bear in a Politicon podcast that very same day (note the same USMC cap and LSU fleece).
The enraged strategist, remarking on the same video and using the same math to point out how detrimental this language is in securing votes from a demographic the Democrats struggle mightily with, demands Omar start her own political party.
"Ilhan Omar. Lady, why don't you just get out the Democratic party," he seethes. "Honestly, start your own movement."
