The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department issued an apology for the "offensive" and "inappropriate" social media post Sunday lamenting the "tragic" bombing of Iran's nuclear facilities.
The original post on the LASD account was made after President Donald Trump authorized the bombing of several Iranian nuclear facilities. The bizarre post from one of America's biggest counties has since been deleted, but RedState reported on it here.
"Our hearts go out to the victims and families impacted by the recent bombings in Iran," the deleted post read. "While this tragic event occurred overseas, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is closely monitoring the situation alongside our local, state, and federal partners."

It went on to explain that while "there are no known threats to Los Angeles County," out of an abundance of caution, "we are increasing patrol checks at places of worship and other sensitive locations throughout the county."
RedState's Bonchie noted in his post:
It should be noted that in the aftermath of the bombings, the Iranians claimed the nuclear sites had been evacuated days prior, so who exactly were the "victims" being mourned by the LASD? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I believe the Iranians. I'd be shocked if some soldiers weren't on site to defend against a possible Israel commando raid, but their official line is that no one even died.
After the LASD post went viral, someone further up the food chain noticed, and an edit was made to remove the section about the bombings.
First, someone decided it would be a great idea to make the post. Then, the post was edited to remove the section about the bombings. Next, someone higher up than the editing person decided just to delete the post altogether. Finally, someone at the LASD Headquarters made the right call on Monday to issue a statement apologizing for the whole thing.
"We are issuing this statement to formally apologize for an offensive and inappropriate social media post recently posted on our Department social media platforms regarding the conflict in Iran," the statement posted on X read. "This post was unacceptable, made in error, and does not reflect the views of Sheriff Robert G. Luna or the Department."

"As a law enforcement agency, we do not comment on foreign policy or military matters," it added. "Our mission remains solely focused on protecting public safety and serving our diverse communities."
"We fully recognize that the words and messages we share carry weight," the statement continued. "As law enforcement professionals, we are entrusted with a position of public responsibility, and that trust demands that we communicate accurately. In this instance, we fell short of that expectation, and we are taking quick corrective action. We are committed to learning from this failure and to prevent such incidents from occurring again."
In closing, the Department noted that it had launched an "internal review to determine how it was created and published."
On Sunday night, President Trump made a social media post celebrating the success of the attack on Iran's nuclear ambitions and shared that the U.S. had taken out the Islamic State's key enrichment facilities, RedState reported.
"Monumental Damage was done to all Nuclear sites in Iran, as shown by satellite images. Obliteration is an accurate term!" the president declared.
