Meghan Markle made a quick trip from her home in Montecito, CA to Indianapolis on Tuesday evening to speak to a woman’s group there about “woman’s empowerment and supporting young girls.” It’s a good thing that her speech wasn’t focused on another cause she and her husband, Harry Windsor, often focus on (no, not racism), climate change, because Markle was filmed boarding a private jet at Indianapolis International Airport shortly after her speech ended.
The footage, posted by Backgrid, was taken in the Indianapolis Colts’ private hangar at the airport, where the jet was waiting. As Meghan walks into the frame, she puts her arm up to shield her face.
From Outkick:
As one would expect from someone who managed to become persona non grata with the Royal Family, Markle showed up just 20 minutes before the start of the event.
Once she was there, Markle was guarded by an enormous security team and no media was allowed at the event.
Records from Flight Aware show that Markle’s jet – a chartered Gulfstream 4 – landed at 4:40 PM, leaving one to wonder just what she was doing with all of that time. The jet carrying Markle’s entourage went wheels up at 9:17 PM, so she couldn’t have stayed at the event mingling for very long.
Back in November 2021, Harry and Meghan posted a statement to their website promising to be “net zero” by 2030.
As global leaders convene for COP26 to commit to solutions for our climate crisis, all of us at Archewell, led by The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, share our pledge towards a more sustainable future by becoming net zero by 2030.
…
Achieving net zero carbon emissions means making a series of choices over time to make that footprint as small as possible, while compensating for any remaining emissions through high-quality carbon removal projects.
How specifically does one “compensate” for a 3,800 nautical mile flight that didn’t have to occur? Not to mention the 170 mile round-trip the plane had to make — empty — from Van Nuys Airport north of Los Angeles to Santa Barbara International? Meghan couldn’t have piled her crew in a Suburban and driven down, and had her car wait at the hangar there?
Meanwhile, Prince William and Princess Catherine landed at Boston’s Logan Airport Wednesday morning, having flown commercial on a much longer flight.
He flies coach…just like us!
The last time I saw Prince William, we were on the same flight from Memphis to Dallas in May 2014. William sat in the window seat in the first row of coach.
