On Thursday, Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. premiered "The Real Food Show."
The Real Food Show is geared toward everyday Americans and shows ways to prepare real, healthy, and good-tasting food on a budget. You know I am on the MAHA train, and since Kennedy reintroduced the inverted food pyramid in January, HHS has been innovating ways to educate not just everyday Americans, but doctors, schools, prisons, and care facilities on how best to incorporate the dietary guidelines into their guidance and menus, and how to embrace the HHS mandate to "Eat Real Food."

Welcome to #TheRealFoodShow.
Thanks to President Trump, we flipped the food pyramid and put real food back at the center of the American plate. Now I'm traveling across America, connecting with renowned chefs to show families how to cook delicious, nutritious meals made with real ingredients at affordable prices. Let's get cooking!

The Real Food Show is a new cooking series hosted by HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. that makes healthy, affordable cooking simple and accessible for every American. Inspired by President Trump's Make America Healthy Again agenda, Secretary Kennedy is bringing the Dietary Guidelines for Americans to life and showing that cooking with real food can be practical, approachable, and affordable for every family. Every episode is packed with affordable, budget-friendly recipes and easy cooking techniques designed to save you time and money. Plus, you’ll get practical nutrition advice to help fuel your family, all while watching incredible special guests whip up their favorite healthy signature dishes right alongside Secretary Kennedy.
This is quite clever: creating visual, hands-on educational materials which work for our streaming generation.

The first episode features one of my favorite celebrity chefs, Andrew Gruel. Gruel and his wife Lauren own Calico Fish House in Huntington Beach, CA, and he founded one of my favorite Southern California eateries, Slapfish. Their Lobster Tots are a taste of Heaven!
I also follow Gruel and Lauren's American Gravy Substack, where I have found some of the most creative and simple recipes that have been placed on repeat; they are that good.
In the first episode, Kennedy and Gruel make Salmon Cakes with Apple, White Bean and Greens Salad. We weren't a rich family, so my mother used to make the main dish all the time, except she called them Salmon Croquettes. What I love about Gruel's style is that even if it's a familiar recipe, I always learn something new. Let's hope this bodes well for the other celebrity chefs Kennedy plans to feature.
