For this moment in time, this little Superhero deserved to wear a cape, and so he did!

Chemotherapy is a horror. I watched my adult sister go through it, and some people never recover from its ravages. My sister didn’t.

So, imagine a two-year-old with not much body mass, and a lack of understanding about what is happening to him, going through it for almost a year. It breaks one’s heart.

But little Noah Eyo did it, and for his last chemotherapy session on November 18, Noah wore a gold cape.

From Fox 11 News:

It was last February when the young parents learned that Noah had liver cancer. The discovery was made during a routine check up for the boy. He was so young that he was still nursing.

About the time Noah’s health emergency was discovered, Nicole and David learned she was pregnant with a second child. So as little Noah went through several rounds of chemotherapy, at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, which left him nauseous and scared, his mom was experiencing morning sickness at the same time.

In addition to the chemo, little Noah had two surgeries and a liver transplant.

As Noah’s father David said in the video, they received help from unexpected sources. One of those avenues of help was an organization called “Little Wishes,” which helps seriously ill and hospitalized children not lose their identity by granting little joys that help the child get through the dark and difficult days with a catastrophic illness.

Founded in 2003 by a pediatric oncology nurse, the group taps into a child’s passions by helping them identify what makes them happy and allowing them to make a wish. They want the wishes to be simple and small so that 14 days later, the child can make another wish. So whether it is an action figure, a musical instrument, choosing their favorite candy, or a pretty dress, the wish is granted and often delivered with fanfare and song by hospital staff, to celebrate the patient and build a supportive community.

Noah wished for toys, and the wand he is holding may well have been one of the toys received.

Several videos of Noah during his battle against cancer are incredibly moving. There’s Noah running gleefully wearing a superhero’s cape at his final chemotherapy session. And theres [sic] video of him ringing the bell at his last treatment for chemo. His mom called it a “victory bell” because with his latest cancer screening showing no signs of the disease, there are no plans for the toddler to return for more treatment.

Nikki gave birth to Noah’s little brother Isaiah in October. Nikki documents both Noah’s journey and her pregnancy on her Instagram page. Next to the cape video, the picture of the couple holding their children and wearing shirts that say, “No Mo Chemo” and “Noah Strong” are pure joy.
