L.A. County Sheriff Alex Villanueva Won't Enforce 'Unscientific' Mask Mandate

Polishing his iconoclast creds, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva has said he will not enforce the latest mask mandate handed down by the Los Angeles County Department of Health.

From Local ABC 7:

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva is criticizing the county’s decision to order masks to be worn indoors again, claiming the mandate is “not backed by science” and contradicts federal guidelines.

Villanueva was responding Friday to an order announced the day before by the county Department of Public Health. Starting Saturday at 11:59 p.m., all county residents are supposed to wear masks indoors under rules similar to those in effect prior to California reopening on June 15.

“Forcing the vaccinated and those who already contracted COVID-19 to wear masks indoors is not backed by science and contradicts the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines,” Villanueva said.

Mad appreciation that Villanueva included those who have contracted COVID-19 and recovered. Statista lists them as 172 million worldwide, with antibodies that give just as much protection, and may well last longer, than any vaccine.

He added that sheriff’s deputies “will not expend our limited resources” to enforce the order and instead the department is asking for voluntary compliance.

Good luck with that. The majority of Californians, especially small businesses, have had it up to here with arbitrary mask mandates.

Through his Fix California advocacy group, former DNI and Ambassador to Germany Ric Grenell has filed an injunction against L.A. County to stop the mask mandates.

As I wrote earlier, today, the person hardest hit by the County’s knee-jerk reaction: Gavin Newsom.

Bye, Felicia.
