My friends and I went to Tinhorn Flats, a saloon in Burbank, California, to support their efforts to stay open, despite Governor Gavin Newsom’s diktat closing all outdoor dining in the State.

Lucas Lepejian and his family have owned the restaurant for over 20 years, and have made their establishment a “Peaceful Protest Site”.

Lepejian said on his Facebook page, “We Will Not Comply With Illegal Mandates and Closures That Make Zero Sense. This Is Only About Fear & Control.”

He then gave more details on his Instagram page:

“Patriots- Please join us at Tinhorn Flats Tomorrow, Thursday, for a Peaceful Protest against the Tyrannical Mandates and Closures by the governor of CA- gavin newsom. Protest starts 12 noon sharp on our back patio. Please feel free to bring signs. Protest will continue every day from 12 – 9pm except Mondays where we will all rest so we can protest again Tuesday through Sunday. God Bless America and God Bless Personal Freedoms and Liberties.”

Lepejian is among a handful of owners in Los Angeles County and throughout the State, who are standing up against the arbitrary and inconsistent closure of outdoor dining due to the recent COVID-19 case and death toll increases in California. Sadly, he is not getting the attention of an Angela Mardsen or a Chef Andrew Gruel, but he needs to be. Just like with AB5, the powers that be are going after the most vocal of proponents in order to silence them, and if you follow Tinhorn Flats Burbank’s Instagram feed, you know that Lepejian has been pretty vocal about the lockdowns, mask mandates, and the host of other stupidities surrounding this pandemic.

However, unlike some other restaurants that are fighting back, Lepejian does not want you to set up a GoFundMe for his cause—he refuses to accept charity.

What will he accept? Coming out, spending money, and supporting them in their fight.

We had a terrific time last night, and it felt like life before COVID. The patio was packed and filled with the noise of conversation and people having a great time with good food and good friends. THIS is what our government is trying to kill; the risk (or lack thereof) of COVID is simply a convenient excuse. Numerous studies and the science shows that lockdowns do not work, and restaurants are not vectors of COVID spread. Yet, Democrat politicians and their goons like the Crypt Keeper Barbara Ferrer want to continue to destroy lives and livelihoods through these measures. It. Must. Stop.

If you want to drive up or down from wherever you are in California and support Lepejian and Tinhorn Flats Burbank, they are open every afternoon-evening except Mondays, and fighting with all they can to stay open. Their hours are Tues-Sun 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. We arrived around 6:30 p.m. and the line was up the street. Along with the legal help, Lepejian could use more publicity, so if you go, tweet, Insta, and Facebook Live out to the world that you support small business and defy the unconstitutional destruction that is occurring in states like California.
