You would think that by now, the left would have realized their favorite strategy just isn’t as effective anymore. But it appears one can’t teach this particular poodle any new tricks.
Democrats seem to still believe that trying to portray conservatives as crazed religious bigoted fascists is going to save their asses in November. To put it simply, they are going to use the same messaging strategy that got former President Donald Trump in office in 2016. It’s almost like they want the Orange Man What Is Bad to win again in 2024.
During a segment on MSNBC’s “Deadline,” contributor Donny Deutsch said that if Democrats want to avoid a shellacking in the upcoming congressional elections, they have to “scare the hell out of people” by portraying Republicans as “crazy fascists.”
MSNBC media activist Nicolle Wallace started by saying:
“There’s a direct line between the ideology and the current Homeland Security issued warning of an uptick in threats of domestic violent extremism. It’s around the grievances over the election, and I think in Pennsylvania, you’ve seen some of the extremist groups marching openly in broad daylight on the streets. I don’t know that anybody, except the militia groups themselves, wants to live in that country. How do you, in your view, sort of take this message mainstream and make people understand that’s the choice?”
Deutsch replied by using one of the left’s favorite tactics: Bringing up Hitler in relation to Doug Mastriano, a Republican running for governor in Pennsylvania. Mastriano recently came under fire when it was revealed that he paid $5,000 to Gab, a controversial social media platform for “advertising consulting.” The candidate was criticized by people on both sides for tying himself to the platform, which is known for hosting white supremacists.
“I think it’s exactly what you just said. Let me also point out one thing about our friend, Mastriano. he, obviously, was part of January 6th. And he likened it, his words, to Hitler’s Reichstag and drew those parallels himself,” Deutsch said.
He continued:
“I think you have to scare the hell out of people. I think those 40% have to understand that are still voting for Mastriano, he has come out and said, ‘Look, with one stroke of my pen, I will be in control of the elections in this state. I will be putting in the head of elections. I will overtake all of the voting machines with one stroke of my pen.’ This is what he’s saying. Autocrats and fascists tell you what they’re going to do. The thing about Donald Trump that we figured out years later, he told us what he was going to do. He told us that he wasn’t leaving office peacefully. All we have to do is listen and continue to amplify.”
Deustch concluded by suggesting Americans would be more concerned about “crazy” than about the economy. He said:
“The Democrats have got to put all this in one bucket, and that’s why I mentioned the JD Vance thing which is off point from here, but this level of crazy insanity. I’m going to say it again, I know James Carville said, ‘it’s the economy, stupid,’ but in this election coming up in the midterms of ’24, it’s crazy, stupid. Make it about crazy.”
“Say, ‘we cannot have these crazy fascists in power’,” he remarked.
The fascist trope isn’t the only way progressives seek to make Republican candidates unpalatable to the masses. They have also labeled conservatives as “Christian nationalists” to try to scare voters into voting Democrat.
On Friday, Business Insider reported on a pastor who rebuked Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) for identifying as a Christian Nationalist. Rev. Dr. Chuck Currie responded to a tweet from the lawmaker in which she noted she was “being attacked by the godless left because I said I’m a proud Christian Nationalist.”
Currie responded:
Unlike Marjorie Taylor Greene, I’ve studied the Scriptures & devoted myself to serving the Church. Christian nationalism is a racist ideology incompatible with Christianity. Jesus was for all the world, not one nation. Beware false teachers like Greene. She dances with the devil.

It seems a bit odd that a publication like Business Insider would publish an entire report on one tweet from a minister that nobody has heard of. But, when you consider the overall strategy to paint all conservatives as religious zealots seeking to transform America into a theocracy, it isn’t that weird, is it?
Other members of the activist media have followed the same playbook.
CNN’s John Blake penned an op-ed in which he claims the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol was carried out by Christian nationalists who belong to a movement that uses Christianity as a cover for their racism, sexism, and blah blah blah. “The insurrection marked the first time many Americans realized the US is facing a burgeoning White Christian nationalist movement,” he wrote. “This movement uses Christian language to cloak sexism and hostility to Black people and non-White immigrants in its quest to create a White Christian America.”
So, to sum it all up, Democrats are going to rely on the same strategy that has shown itself to be a dismal failure. You know what they say about the definition of insanity, right? But to be fair, when you have no real accomplishments to run on, this is about the best you can do. Unfortunately for Democrats, it won’t be enough.
