In my latest episode of “A Fresh Perspective,” I detail how and why California Gov. Gavin Newsom has been trying to elevate himself as a rising star in the Democratic Party. On Independence Day, he launched an ad in Florida attacking Gov. Ron DeSantis and his running of the state.

I also make a quick comparison between the two states, and the numbers don’t lie when it comes to which offers a better quality of life. This doesn’t seem to be a smart fight for Newsom to be picking, but perhaps that doesn’t matter.

With the Democrats in dire political straits, it seems Newsom sees an opportunity for himself. The question is: Will he be the Democratic Party’s champion in 2024?
