HOT TAKES: Former Obama Sec. Exploits Deaths of US Soldiers in Afghanistan to Attack Unvaccinated Americans

It’s amazing (and a bit frightening) how low-caliber a person can be and still make it into the highest tiers of the United States federal government. In this case, we have Arne Duncan, the former education secretary under President Barack Obama, who is apparently attempting to make the most absolutely asinine remarks about both the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing chaos in Afghanistan.

The debate over COVID-19, vaccines, masks, and mandates has been raging over the past year, and it has not been without the requisite level of stupidity. But on Sunday, Duncan took the proverbial cake when he posted a tweet comparing those who have not been vaccinated to the jihadists who carried out suicide bombings in Kabul last week. He wrote:

Have you noticed how strikingly similar both the mindsets and actions are between the suicide bombers at Kabul’s airport, and the anti-mask and anti-vax people here?

They both blow themselves up, inflict harm on those around them, and are convinced they are fighting for freedom.

That’s right, folks. Only three days after 13 American soldiers were brutally murdered by terrorists working with ISIS-K, Duncan thought it wise to use their deaths to score cheap political points.

But what is ridiculous about Duncan’s comments is the fact that radical Islamic terrorists do not carry out their atrocities because they seek freedom – they do so to bring about a system of government that is opposed to freedom. At this point, it is difficult to ascertain whether Duncan is stupid or if he just believes those reading his asinine tweet are stupid.

Moreover, most who are rejecting the vax are not doing so just because of “freedom.” Some have legitimate concerns about the effect it could have on their health. Some have problematic histories with vaccines. Others are young and healthy enough to where COVID-19 is less of a risk for them. Still, others did not want to take an injection that is not approved by the Federal Drug Administration.

As you might imagine, Duncan’s tweet was widely criticized on the platform. Here are some examples:

To put it simply, these are not just people running around trying to get infected with COVID-19, so they can spread it to everyone else. They are people with legitimate concerns. But to folks like Duncan, people who do not fall in line are evil b*st*rds on par with jihadists who kill American soldiers and Afghan civilians. This is how many far-leftists think, because they are incapable of critical thought – and the thought that some of these people make it into positions of power is disturbing.
