Texas Governor Greg Abbott Speaks at #RSG15

Greg Abbott is the man who has to fill the massive shoes left by Rick Perry as Governor of Texas. Fortunately for Texans, it appears he is more than up to the task. He is also a great friend to us here at RedState, so it was great that we were able to have him speak at this year’s Gathering. Here’s what he had to say:

I have to admit, one of the things I admire most about Governor Abbott is his willingness to be open about his disability. We have come a long way from the days when Franklin Roosevelt had to hide the fact that he was paralyzed from the waist down from the American people.

That aside, he makes sure to highlight the fact that he is more than willing to fight the Obama administration in order to protect the people of Texas. Additionally, he discusses how a large part of fixing America is getting government right (and Right) at the state level. As governor of the state with the longest border with Mexico, he makes sure to discuss how his state is dealing with illegal immigration and border security.

Abbott’s speech is relatively short, but he packs a lot of punch into the time he was given. There are many other things he discusses in his speech to the Gathering, but I’ll let you watch the speech to hear everything else.
