One of the more interesting exchanges in last night’s debate occurred between Trump and Cruz. Cruz has recently called out The Donald for his “New York values,” even suggesting that Trump should stop playing “Born in the USA” at his rallies, and instead use “New York, N.Y.”

Now, every sentient person in the country knows exactly what Cruz meant,  but Mario Bartiromo asked him to explain, and Cruz did so, pointedly and eloquently:

“But everyone understands that the values in New York City are socially liberal or pro-abortion or pro- gay-marriage, focus around money and the media…….And — and I guess I can — can frame it another way. Not a lot of conservatives come out of Manhattan. I’m just saying.”

Trump, when asked to respond, cleverly  cited Wm. F Buckley Jr as an example of one conservative from NYC. He then went on, disingenuously, to invoke the memory of 9/11…implying that because the people of NY had borne the attack, they were now somehow immune from any criticism. Which of course makes no sense whatsoever, but sounds really good, and indeed, Trump’s comments generated applause.

The moderator then went on to switch topics, and Cruz, accomplished debater that he is, felt in this instance it was wiser not to attempt to force a rebuttal.

Bu there were two words that I wish Ted Cruz had then said, which would have easily had trumped Trump’s  (I just had to do that) paean to New Yorkers:
