1. Democrats Want to Tax Your ATM Withdrawals

You remember Lanny Davis, right? He’s the nice guy you sometimes get confused with Leon Panetta because they both worked for Clinton and their names both start with “L”.But when Davis speaks and floats ideas, it is more than just your run of the mill Washington personality floating an idea. When Lanny Davis drops an op-ed, there tends to be more to it. So we should take note that he’s got Democrats signing onto a plan to tax your ATM withdrawals. Why, you ask? Well, to pay down the deficit.Rep. Chaka Fattah (D-Pa.) has introduced Davis’s dream legislation. It would charge a penny for every dollar of your money drawn from an ATM machine. That would then beg the question — why put your money in a bank if you are going to get taxed merely for the right to access your money. But wait . . . it’s gets better. They’re back to wanting to tax the internet too. Please click here for the rest of the post.

2. Donald Berwick Exemplifies the Obama Agenda

The White House’s announcement that they will bypass the nomination process of the United States Senate to recess appoint Donald Berwick as head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is an act of unconscionable hubris. The White House claims this act is in response to “Washington game-playing”, accusing Republicans of planning to “stall the nomination” as long as possible. This is nothing more than a baldfaced lie. Republicans cannot stall this nomination — it is impossible for them to do so under Senate rules — as not one hearing has been called or scheduled. Even the New York Times doesn’t buy the White House’s explanation, reporting: “The recess appointment was somewhat unusual because the Senate is in recess for less than two weeks and senators were still waiting for Dr. Berwick to submit responses to some of their requests for information.”Please click here for the rest of the post.

3. Eric Holder protects would-be race genocidist.

First, if you’re getting the Morning Briefing by email, you need to click through and watch the video. You really need to. You’ll hear King Samir Shabazz of the New Black Panthers encouraging black Americans to kill white babies.King Samir Shabazz is one of the New Black Panthers who blocked white voters from voting in Pennsylvania during the 2008 Presidential election and who Attorney General Eric Holder has now let off the hook after the Bush Administration pursued legal action.Let me put this in some perspective for you, Attorney General Eric Holder. I happen to be the father of one of these white babies that this would-be race warrior advocates killing. Where I come from – which is to say, planet Earth – we do not give special consideration to people who advocate killing babies because of their skin color. Letting this man and his ilk off the hook for carrying weapons and intimidating voters in a polling place is giving special consideration. Please click here for the rest of the post.

4. Sin Tax Schadenfreude

The Reason Foundation published an article back in February ‘09 looking at the failed logic of State (and Federal) Government placing such a huge reliance on Tobacco taxes as the means by which they hope to offset some of their budgetary woes in the “lean times.” They likened this broken record of failed tax policy to that of an “old vaudeville troop that can’t let go of its old laugh lines.”Like all the other so-called “sin taxes” out there, there is a fundamental problem with believing you can sustain and expand revenues by raising the cost of “sin” to the point that some of the “sinners” will no longer be able to afford them. Taxing behavior designed to stop said behavior is not a viable method for growing a revenue stream; not in the eyes of sane normal people, at least. Yet our Political Heroes keep trying this technique over and over and over again. Please click here for the rest of the post.
