1. Attempted Bombing Over Denver

Yesterday, the White House leaked that it was ditching the phrase ‘radical Islam’ from government language.

Though details are still sketchy, last night an Islamic radical attempted to blow up a United Airlines flight from Reagan National Airport to Denver tonight with a shoe bomb.

The bomber made it on to the plane and attempted to light the bomb, but was stopped by air marshals.

The bomber is claiming diplomatic immunity from Qatar and worked at Qatar’s embassy in Washington.

So we have now had two bombers make it through airport security and on to planes under Barack Obama’s Department of Homeland Security — a Department of Homeland Security that has been tweaking Bush administration era policies to make us safer.

On top of these, we’ve had the recruiting office shootings and the Ft. Hood terrorist attack and the White House still wants to bring the GTMO detainees to Illinois.

All of that talk about making our enemies like us and forgiving us in the post-Bush era isn’t really working out for us, is it?

Now, all that said, before we start throwing blame, let’s get some answers. And let’s begin the countdown until Jane Hall Lute is thrown under the bus. Lute, the Deputy Secretary for Homeland Security, has been on “an outreach effort” to boost airport security. Her qualification for her job? Assistant Secretary General of Peacekeeping Operations for the United Nations. Yes, that peacekeeping operation.

There is much we do not yet know. But we can see the game changing before our eyes with this diplomatic immunity issue.

2. Barack Obama Bans College Internships, But Only in Free Enterprise

I suggested once that Barack Obama is naive when it comes to the American free enterprise system, but let’s just scratch that. The man really is trying to dismantle it and remake it in his own image — that of a law school professor who champions “public interest” work over the business of America, which is to say business itself.

This has been happening across America in academia where professors are gladly dismantling programs that teach, for example, law students how to be corporate lawyers and work in business in favor of training up an army of public interest liberals who sue the state in the name of progress to stop progress.

Barack Obama, coming from that culture, wants the nation to do the same. The Wall Street Journal is reporting the Obama administration is banning internships within private businesses.

Ponder that — Barack Obama is destroying another aspect of the free enterprise system.

Barack Obama is telling teenagers and college students, who are now suffering through a 26% unemployment rate, that they are not allowed to volunteer their time in the free market in exchange for acquiring valuable and relevant job skills that might, just might, get them off the unemployment line — and that ignores the ability to make valuable connections through networking in the workplace and build relationships for future careers and opportunities. The lost opportunity just of the loss of networking and relationship building is overwhelming and will put some college students who did not go to the right school or belong to the right fraternity or sorority or come from the right town at a serious, serious disadvantage.

“‘If … you want to pursue an internship with a for-profit employer, there aren’t going to be many circumstances where you can have an internship and not be paid and still be in compliance with the law,’ the Labor Department’s Nancy J. Leppink tells the New York Times.”

3. We Have Some Bad News And Some Good News

During the so-called debate on the federal takeover of the American system of health care, Senator Tom Coburn offered an amendment that would have prohibited federal funds from being used to purchase Viagra, Cialis (as well as presumably matching clawfoot bathtubs in scenic locations), etc for rapists and child molesters. (I’m not sure if Enzyte is covered under ObamaCare but it would be surprising if it weren’t.) This was derided as nothing more than a tactic designed to derail Obama’s legacy. The amendment failed.

Now, admittedly, had the Senate passed Coburn’s amendment it would have created an interesting vote in the House but the tactical use of the amendment doesn’t detract from its truthfulness. From Roll Call:

“The Congressional Research Service confirmed in a memo Wednesday that rapists and sex offenders may get federally subsidized Viagra and other sexual performance enhancing drugs under the recently passed health care reform law — information that Republicans charge will haunt Democrats in upcoming elections.”

So that is the bad news, at least it is if you are living in the vicinity of a currently incapacitated rapist or child molester or if you are a Democrat senator in a Red or purple state who voted against Senator Coburn’s amendment.

Now for the good news.

4. Sen. Leahy Refuses To Delay Hearings for Liu

First a bit of background. Goodwin Liu is the radical left wing law professor abortionist, whom President Obama nominated to the 9th Circuit Court. Liu is a Social Justice proponent, advocate of racial reparations, and has also been aligned with La Raza.

All seven Republican members of the Senate Judiciary Committee requested to delay hearings for Goodwin Liu due to his failure to complete 117 items on his Senate questionnaire.

A reasonable request for reasonable people, I am sure it was met with a reasonable response.

Ah, who am I kidding … we are dealing with Patrick “Leaky” Leahy here.

5. Beyond the Parties, the Post Party Summits

We have reached a point in this country where many people eschew partisan identity. They are liberal or conservative, but not Democrat or Republican. American Majority is engaging in something called “Post Party Summits.” If you can, you must attend.

Go to summit.americanmajority.org and you will see where these summits will be around the country. I’ll be speaking at the ones in Denver, Charlotte, and Pittsburgh.

American Majority intends to train conservatives on becoming effective grassroots activists, advocates, candidates, and online activists. I hear all the time at tea party events, “Get involved. Get involved. Do something.” The crowd goes wild and cheers, “Yyyyyyeeeaaaaahhhhhh!!! Let’s get invvvvvvvvoolllllvved.” Then they go home and have no freaking clue what to do.

American Majority intends to teach you how to get involved through Post Party Summits. You will go from “yes I want to get involved” to know how to actually get involved and why to get involved. You need to attend.

I encourage your participation in these summits if you can get to one. Conservatives must not sit on the sidelines, but must get involved in the political process. This is one easy way to figure out how.
