Joseph Mifsud's Role Went Well Beyond Spying, It Was Entrapment; Devin Nunes Requests All Relevant Documents From CIA, FBI, NSA, and State Dept

House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Devin Nunes (R-CA) has sent a letter requesting all documents relating to Maltese Professor Joseph Mifsud to the CIA, the FBI, the NSA and the State Department. In the letter, he writes that the Mueller Report “omits any mention of a wide range of contacts Mifsud had with Western political institutions and individuals.” (The letter can be read here.)

Trump campaign advisor George Papadopoulos and Mifsud met for the first time in March 2016 at the Link Campus in Rome where Mifsud taught. (Link University is said to have “close ties to Western intelligence agencies.”) The Daily Caller reports:

Papadopoulos claims that his bosses at the London Center for International Law Practice (LCILP), a U.K. think tank where he was working at the time, insisted that he travel with them to Rome and meet Mifsud.

Mifsud also worked for LCILP, but Papadopoulos says he had never met the professor prior to his Rome visit.

Why did his bosses insist he meet Mifsud? Were they connected to the conspiracy also?

Papadopoulos and Mifsud stayed in contact for several months after their initial meeting. Their emails show that they attempted to set up meetings between the Trump campaign and members of the Russian government. The meetings never took place.

Papadopoulos and Mifsud met again in London on March 24, 2016, where Mifsud introduced him to a Russian woman he claimed was Vladimir Putin’s niece. As the special counsel’s report notes, the woman turned out not to be related to the Russian president. Mifsud may have also edited and drafted some of her emails and text messages to Papadopoulos, the report claims.

On April 26, 2016, the two met in London, where Mifsud was based at the time. He told Papadopoulos he had just returned from Russia and that the Russians had thousands of emails which would be very damaging to Hillary Clinton.

In May, Papadopoulos was invited to a London bar for drinks with Australian diplomat Alexander Downer where he famously told him that the Russians had dirt on Hillary Clinton in the form of thousands of emails.

Downer relayed this information to his government and it was later passed on to US officials. According to the FBI, it was this incident which prompted them to open their counterintelligence investigation of Donald Trump, “Crossfire Hurricane.”

Eventually, Papadopoulos was questioned by the FBI and made two false statements regarding his meetings with Mifsud.

  1. He told the FBI that “I wasn’t even on the Trump team” when Mifsud told him about the “dirt.” But he had joined the campaign in March and heard about the “dirt” in April.
  2. Papadopoulos also told the FBI that Mifsud was “a nothing,” and that he thought Mifsud was “just a guy talk[ing] up connections or something,” while in fact, Papadopoulos thought Mifsud had high-level Russian connections.

These two lies would eventually form the basis of the criminal charges Mueller filed against Papadopoulos and for which he pleaded guilty and served a 12-day sentence.

Last September, lawyers for the DNC reported that Mifsud was missing and might possibly be dead. (Mifsud is one of many defendants, along with Russia, members of the Trump campaign and Wikileaks, that the DNC is suing for interference in the 2016 election. The DNC had been unable to locate Mifsud to serve their complaint.) I wrote about this here.

However, last month, it was reported that he is currently living in Rome.

Specifically, Nunes is trying to determine who Mifsud was working for at the time. Mifsud, a rather shadowy figure, is believed to have high-level connections to Russian intelligence. Nunes is trying to find out if and how he was involved with U.S. intelligence or other western intelligence operators. In his letter, Nunes writes, [the Mueller Report states that] Mifsud has “deep ties to Russia, detailing his trips to Moscow and extensive contacts with Russian officials including ‘a one-time employee of the IRA,’ the Russian organization that conducted social media attacks on the 2016 U.S. elections.'”

Nunes’ letter contains “photographic evidence of Mifsud in close proximity to Western officials.” Here are several relevant excerpts from the letter.

This report includes numerous details on Mifsud, who told George Papdopoulos that the Russian government had dirt on Hillary Clinton comprising thousands of emails. Papadopoulos later related this information to others, which served as the official pretext for the FBI to open a counter-intelligence investigation into whether Trump associates conspired with Russians to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. After investigating the matter for approximately two years, the Special Counsel ‘did not establish’ that such a conspiracy existed.

If Mifsud has extensive, suspicious contacts among Russian officials as portrayed in the special counsel’s report, then an incredibly wide range of Western institutions and individuals may have been compromised by him, including our own State Department.

Nunes appeared on The Sean Hannity show last week and said, “If he [Mifsud] is in fact a Russian agent, it would be one of the biggest intelligence scandals for not only the United States, but also our allies like the Italians and the Brits and others. Because if Mifsud is a Russian agent, he would know all kinds of our intelligence agents throughout the globe.”

Last May, I wrote a post entitled “If Rush Limbaugh’s Theory Is Correct, Then This May Be The Biggest Political Scandal In American History.” Thanks to the efforts of Devin Nunes, who was the Chairman of the House Intelligence at the time, we had enough information even then to call this a setup.

Another conservative who was unafraid to call this a conspiracy is Dan Bongino. His book “Spygate,” published last fall, states the case very clearly. In the video below, he discusses the deep state’s unraveling narrative with Fox News’ Jesse Watters.
