Speaking at a #ShoutYourAbortion event in Seattle, WA, actress Martha Plimpton told the crowd:

Seattle has some particular significance for me for lots of reasons. I’ve got a lot of family here, some of whom are here in the audience tonight. I also had my first abortion here at the Seattle Planned Parenthood!

Yay!

(wild applause)

Notice I said ‘first.’ I said ‘first.’ And I don’t want Seattle — I don’t want you guys to feel insecure, it was my best one.

(more applause)

Heads and tails above the rest! If I could Yelp review it, I totally would. And if that doctor’s here tonight, I don’t remember you at all, I was 19. I was 19, but I thank you nonetheless.

(crowd goes wild)

Yeah. She’s a real hero.

Joining Plimpton on stage was Dr. Willie Parker, a well-known abortion provider and advocate and oddly, a self-proclaimed Christian.

Following Plimpton’s remarks, Parker spoke to his audience about abortion.

Referring to pro-lifers, he said: “The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it’s open.”

“A fetus is not a person,” he said, adding that “if you really believe that abortion is murder, call 911 and see if the police will come to an abortion clinic.”

(laughter from the audience)

He continued, “I’ve never killed a baby. I’ve ended pregnancies, but I’ve never killed a baby.”

Just keep on telling yourself that Dr. Parker.

And finally, he concluded with “Women have been made to think that this [clinic] is some evil place, where God is not. People often respond to abortion by cursing [women] for making sacred decisions. Our answer to the curse is to bless.”

Dr. Parker’s words echo those of Lizz Winstead, the creator of “The Daily Show,” whom RedState’s Alex Parker (no relation to Dr. Parker) wrote about here. Winstead looks at aborted fetuses as medical waste.

A fetus has a genetic code. A fetus is alive and constantly developing and growing, preparing itself for life outside the womb. And once born, he or she will continue to develop and grow. A fetus is to a newborn as a newborn is to a five-year-old. All of them are people. They are simply at different stages of development.

There is nothing more miraculous to me than the birth of a child.

No Dr. Parker and Ms. Winstead, you’re both wrong. A fetus is a person, just one who hasn’t been born yet.
