Apparently, many Huffington Post readers find this wonderful holiday classic to be offensive. One reader, whose tweet has since been deleted, said, “Yearly reminder that #Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a parable on racism & homophobia w/ Santa as a bigoted exploitative p***k.” Another reader tweeted “#RudolphTheRedNosedReindeer, teaching kids since 1964 that your peers will only accept your differences if you can provide them with some kind of service.”

Many were concerned about the bullying that was depicted in the film, particularly Comet’s bullying of Rudolph at reindeer practice. One reader found it “sexist” that Donner, Rudolph’s father, wouldn’t allow Mrs. Donner to go out in the storm to search for Rudolph.

Another said Donner was verbally abusive. You get the idea.

Now, Rudolph gets added to the growing list of politically incorrect programs, such as “The Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” and “Cinderella,” as well as offensive books including Dr. Seuss’ “And To Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street” and Laura Ingalls Wilder’s “The Little House on the Prairie.”
