There are many things that make me shake my head regarding the current farce masquerading as an “impeachment inquiry.” However, one rises to the top as far as sheer idiocy, the presumption that President Trump’s reason for asking President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine to look into election meddling and corruption, was that he wished to damage former Vice President Biden, widely (and foolishly) presumed to be his opponent in 2020. Why don’t we unpack this a bit and then get into the real reason.

First of all, let’s have a look at Vice President Biden as the “likely opponent.” At the time this phone call took place, Biden had just entered the race and was at that time one of twenty candidates vying for the opportunity to face President Trump in 2020. He immediately vaulted to “front runner status,” which he maintained until Senator Elizabeth Warren got some traction, post Kamala Harris’ implosion. Warren’s lead has disappeared and it looks like Biden, according to the polls, is now back at the top of the heap.

Does he have what it takes to go all the way and secure the nomination? That remains to be seen. In his favor, is the perception that he isn’t quite as batcrap crazy as the rest of the field and might be more electable because of that. There is also the possibility that the Democrat puppet masters cloistered in their smoke filled room have determined that President Trump is going to win. They could use their Super Delegate powers to give the nomination to Lunch Bucket Joe as some sort of career service award—and who knows, he could win. On the other hand, it’s a long way to the Democrat convention. I would also remind everyone—JEB!

Next, let’s assess Biden’s ability to beat President Trump, who despite directed and focussed opposition even before he raised his right hand, has had a remarkably successful administration—lower taxes, less regulation, prison reform and the piece de le resistance, a booming economy. The Trump economy has the lowest unemployment in decades, the lowest Black and Hispanic unemployment EVER recorded and increasing wages. Why? Because with everybody already working (we are at statistically—actually above, full employment) employers are having a hard time filling positions, so they have to offer more money. That’s a pretty high political bar to overcome.

Let’s check out Joe Biden. He has to overcome President Trump’s economic juggernaut. To do that, he is going to have to craft a compelling message—a message that says what Trump is doing is bad and that Biden, and Biden alone has what it takes to fix it. Assuming he can come up with such a message (again, a pretty high bar) he is going to have to out work the President to get the message out there. He is going to have to motivate people to turn out.

Quite frankly, I don’t believe he has the energy to do it. For every campaign rally Biden holds, Trump will hold three. Based on current attendance, for every Biden butt in a rally seat, President Trump will likely have 5. Trump is the Energizer Bunny on steroids. Biden’s staff has lately been intensely managing his schedule to keep his events early in the day. Why? He “sundowns.” Late in the day, he is darned near incoherent. President Trump will flat out, out work him, just as he did the criminal crone from Chappaqua.

Vice President Biden is not and never was a political threat to President Trump and certainly would not be in the uncertain event that he becomes the Democrat pick for 2020. If not Biden, what could be President Trump’s reason for his request for a favor from President Zelensky? Simple. He is attempting to lawfully and properly, push back on a years long effort to diminish his singular accomplishment of becoming President of these United States and the years long directed effort to undermine his ability to do that job.

From his point of view—and mine, President Trump is lawfully and properly pointing out Democrat deflection in accusing him of doing what they openly and notoriously, are still doing. From Ukraine interference in the U.S 2016 presidential election, to “colluding” with Russia to undermine the Trump political campaign to the typical Democrat “Chicago Way” corruption of the Bidens, pere en fils. In short, this doesn’t have anything to do with Biden the potential 2020 opponent—it has to do with the corrupt Obama/Clinton/Biden (by association) machine that constantly badmouthed and accused Trump of Russian collusion, when it was they who were doing the colluding and solicitation of other countries to be involved in our election. President Trump flat out beat Hillary Clinton and since then, has been an effective President. That’s why he asked for a favor from President Zelensky.
