A little earlier today, the RedState Team allowed me the privilege of being the one to report CNN’s breaking news regarding the long-awaited Mueller report. This little blurb is a minor follow-up to that report.
As noted in my earlier report, Rush Limbaugh predicted two possible paths the leftists would take to use the report to maximum effect, undermining President Trump’s poll numbers prior to the 2020 election. I agree and here’s why.
First of all, it’s virtually certain that there is no positive connection between then Candidate Trump or the Trump campaign, with the Russian Government. If there had been any “there,” there, a case of good Single Malt Scotch says, it would have already been leaked; splashed across the pages of the Communist Daily Newsletter—ahem—New York Times, followed by the House of Representatives passing Articles of Impeachment with bipartisan support.
This has yet to happen. This means the leftists have two ways to approach this. The first is “death by a thousand cuts,” a slow drip, drip, drip, of not-quite-incriminating excerpts from the report, calculated to chip away at the morale of Trump’s base supporters, weakening him for 2020.
The other option, knowing that there is absolutely NO evidence that Candidate Trump or his staff deliberately colluded or cooperated with the Russians, the leftists are now shifting the meme. They are now saying that the wily old KGB Lieutenant Colonel, Vladimir Putin, used his Cold War espionage skills to dupe Trump into being an unwitting accomplice to his vile machinations. This will play well with the group of folks who still continue to believe that President Trump is an uneducated, ill-bred buffoon who stumbled into Office courtesy of Putin.
Evidence for this can be found in that well known leftist propaganda publication, the Huffington Post which wrote (emphasis mine)
Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said he agreed with former acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe’s assessment that President Donald Trump could be a Russian asset.
McCabe told CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Tuesday that the possibility of Trump being a Russian asset was why the FBI signed off on special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible Trump campaign collusion.
“I completely agree with the way Andy characterized it, you know, that it is a possibility,” Clapper commented on Tuesday’s “CNN Tonight.”
“And I will add to that caveat, that whether witting or unwitting,” he told anchor Don Lemon.
(My good friend Elizabeth Vaughn has some other insights regarding the Clapper interview here).
Over the next few weeks, look for more stories to come out backing away from any criminal aspect of Trump “collusion,” but with a reciprocal increase in “amiable dunce” memes. Minor aside here: One of my greatest heroes was called by the leftists, “an amiable dunce.” So, If they call you that Mr. President, take it as a compliment. After all, you’d then be in the company of th late, great, Ronaldus Magnus.
