When you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.
The left had enjoyed a monopoly on the media for so long that, at some point, it considered leftist thinking the "correct" viewpoint, but, probably worse, it began seeing it as the "standard" viewpoint for the media.
Any intrusion of a message, no matter where it's coming from, is viewed as just that: an intrusion. Something that is here that shouldn't be, like a burglar in a house.
The left reacted the same way, too. It consistently attempted to silence, shut down, or, at best, minimize the opposition through various avenues, including lawfare and intimidation. Oftentimes both.
First it was Rush Limbaugh, then it was Fox News, but the evolution now includes internet news, and you can be sure that Elon Musk's X will become a target as well, but with the Warner Bros acquisition by Paramount now on the table, and CNN's bias now under threat, a new reason to throw a temper tantrum has popped up for the left.
As I wrote in my prior VIP on Friday, employees within CNN are freaking out over the acquisition, spouting words like "doomed" and "f***ed" to describe their future at the company, if they have one at all. While I do think there will be mass layoffs, those who manage to keep their jobs will face a company whose mission isn't to spout propaganda for the Democrat Party, but actually report news.
And for people who are ideologically inclined to lean so far to the left that they fall over, having to play fair is going to be an incredibly tough thing for them to do.

But worse than that, the people outside the media, who needed it as a tool for one reason or another, will probably be even worse off than those facing the change internally. This includes your everyday leftist who watches CNN to get their marching orders and talking points, sure, but it will be especially rough on Democrats, who will have one less megaphone for their narratives and agendas.
To be sure, they still own the vast majority of the legacy media stage, but they saw what happened when Twitter turned into X, and having to share the big stage like they had to share the internet is just way too much for them to handle.
Thus, the threats have already started.
Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy, for instance, is already fantasizing about how they're going to punish the heretics when Democrats get back into power:
Paramount should enjoy its growing news monopoly while they have it because when Democrats win back power we are going to break up these anti-democratic information conglomerates. All of them.

Now, the question to ask yourself here is, if Democrats are so confident in their messaging and that they're on the right side, and that they're the good guys in the room, then why are they so scared about having a different set of opinions up there with them? Why are they so scared about having to put their talking points and perspectives on the dance floor where they will have to be judged on equal footing as their opposition?
If your point of view is so shaky that you feel the need to suppress everyone around you for your message to get "equal footing," then your message isn't equal at all. It's inferior. It's not tenable. As such, it's not worth keeping around.
The Democrats have had the privilege of having their narratives and perspectives artificially propped up for decades and decades, and this hasn't just been bad for society; it's been bad for the left. They've been so used to their own narrative for so long that a bubble formed, and it's caused them to lose their minds. The collapse of the solo act was always coming; it just got sped up by the purchase of Twitter.

The left doesn't know it yet, but if CNN actually does become more of a neutral network, it will ultimately be better for the left, who will, after a time, be forced to see itself for what it's become and change into something more sensible and sensical or die.
