President Donald Trump said it perfectly, and I think it embodies the question I've had about the left for some time now.
This is a party that seems to actively hate it when America does well. When Americans are victimized, so long as the person doing the victimizing fits a certain criterion, then the life lost doesn't matter. Your value as a human is only worth the current moral currency held by your identity group. America, its founding principles, its exceptionalism, its opportunity, and its force on the world stage as a positive influence are all, somehow, evil.
Trump's State of the Union on Tuesday night showed just how deep the left's ire goes about this country, about you, and about me, in the most obvious light I've ever seen.

Trump summed it up in one short sentence. He acknowledged the Ukrainian immigrant Iryna Zarutska, the innocent woman who was stabbed in the neck and then, in horror and fear, bled to death as everyone watched on and did nothing. Everyone stood in Iryna's memory, and as a show of respect and empathy to her mother, Anna Zarutska, who was in attendance.
And Democrats remained seated. The same Democrats who put Ukrainian flags in their bios because of the deaths they were enduring at the hands of the Russian army, the ones who virtue signaled day and night about how we should be more empathetic to the Ukrainian people and give them all the financial and moral support we could, now sat silently as the mother of a murdered Ukranian was acknowledged by the United States government.
Trump's disgust was palpable. Normally, his attacks against the Democrats are done with a smirk or even in a fit of anger, but this time, there almost seemed to be a touch of disbelief.

The way he said it stood out to me. He's usually so understanding of his enemy and knows how low they can be, but it almost seemed like that moment truly surprised him.
And it's a good question. How do you not stand?
Watching the Democrats during the SOTU was like watching a computer program carry out its function, whether it made any rhyme or reason to do so. You had Al Green holding up a sign that said "BLACK PEOPLE AREN'T APES," which isn't something anyone was saying, except maybe Gavin Newsom.
You had Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib behaving like rabid lunatics, Democrats staying seated as the men's Olympic hockey team came in, and silence when Trump brought up a ban on secret teen gender transitions. I'm not even a Democrat, but I was embarrassed for them. I couldn't detect an element of humanity within them during that entire speech. They were there to show off how not-Trump they were, and they didn't care about the consequences.
But it didn't stop there.
The National Press Club's alternative to SOTU had a man in a giraffe costume and inflatable frogs dancing around on stage.
I wish that were a metaphor for something, but that's actually what was going on.

I think the Democrats have honestly driven themselves insane. The hyper-focus of being anti-Trump has infested their minds so deeply that they literally see anything that even remotely resembles anything close to rubbing against their "principles" the wrong way is rejected and sneered at.
I'm not being hyperbolic either. As I was writing this, I stumbled across a post from Libs of TikTok where Rep. Maxine Dexter (D-Or-03) is saying putting "whole milk" in public schools is "white supremacy."

This is all so embarrassing and nonsensical that I feel like I'm looking at the permanent residents of insane asylums who were allowed to take showers and put on suits. They've become so ridiculous that their entire party now reminds me of that cringey clip from the DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) convention, where people were complaining about gendered language and not clapping to spare people who were sensitive to sudden sounds.
They've become unfathomably stupid and profoundly evil. I don't know if one caused the other, but these are not serious people. They should not be allowed anywhere near places of power. They are bigots of the highest order. They are children who never grew up. They are corrupted to their core, and I'm tired of having to watch them stand in places of power and attempt to destroy civilization out of their own greed and ignorance.
I'm glad they showed themselves. I'm glad Trump made them expose their own anti-Americanism and their rejection of real morals.
I pray with everything I have that these people get destroyed in the midterms and we never have to see any of their faces again, because it won't just be our country that's in trouble if they take power; it will be our world that goes down the drain.
