Cam Higby and David Khait decided to be one of the many who picked up the microphone that Charlie Kirk dropped, and as a result, they were driven off the Tennessee State University (TSU) campus by an angry leftist mob.
Despite there being video evidence of a crowd stealing signs, threatening violence, and one even carrying what could be viewed as a makeshift weapon, TSU claims that the students acted peacefully and professionally.
As you can see from the video uploaded by Higby, he and Khait set up a table à la Kirk's style of debate, where they displayed signs detailing their views and offered to talk to people. What started as that very thing, with dialogue happening between people, swiftly turned sour as a crowd began to form and agitators began attempting to steal or vandalize the signs.
Soon, police had to show up to keep the increasingly hostile mob away from Khait and Higby. Eventually, the two walked back to their car, being followed by a very large crowd of angry people, which continued to surround and follow them, even as police attempted to get them off campus in their car. As you can see in the video, one car kept trying to keep these conservatives from leaving by blocking the road, even as police tried to get them to move off.
This is the EXTREMELY civil discussion that the riot at Tennessee State (HBCU) started with.

In this video you watch the mob grow, begin shouting, destroying our stuff, possessing weapons, blocking our way out, and screaming racist epithets.
All because of this civil convo. pic.twitter.com/lbwEpPV52t
Then, TSU issued a statement that is definitely one for the books.
It starts by declaring that Khait and Higby didn't actually have authorization to set up their table in the first place:
Today, a group of individuals unaffiliated with Tennessee State University appeared on campus without prior notice. In accordance with university policy, any demonstration or protest activity requires advance approval and permitting.
Campus police and staff responded promptly, and the individuals were escorted from university grounds without incident.
Okay, if permission is required for free speech to take place in that manner, then that's an issue, but fine. Rules are rules.
But it's what comes next that really drops the jaw:
At all times, TSU students conducted themselves in a professional and respectful manner.
The safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff remain our highest priority. TSU will continue to uphold university policies and ensure that campus remains a safe, welcoming, and orderly environment for all members of our community.
Did they watch the same video everyone else did? People have asked, but TSU turned the comments off for that post on X.

Moreover, here is footage of their security guard being cornered, harassed, and touched by angry students.
After leaving Tennessee State’s HBCU, the student race riot mob decided to follow, harass, corner and touch our security guard.

It doesn't stop there.
According to Higby, an email was sent out from TSU President Debbie Howard, who seemed to double down on TSU's stance that this all went down "without incident." TSU also included a message saying that the "Fearless Debates" group (Higby and Khait's name for their campus tour) was "hostile" and attempted to create "visibility at the expense of Tennessee State University students."
TSU then thumped its chest about upholding the First Amendment, then immediately pardoning the fact that it didn't.
"While we recognize and uphold the constitutional right to free speech, we also understand there is a difference between exercising this right and engaging in actions that seek to disrupt, demean, and incite fear within our community," the statement read.
TSU sent out an email about the @FearlessDebates tour yesterday accusing us of being “hostile” and that we were kicked out “without incident”

TSU is really hoping we won't believe our own eyes and ears on this one, and it seems they're trying to appeal less to the people and more to leftist groups. This ridiculous display of leftism is exactly what's fueling people's departure from it.
Even if Higby and Khait didn't have the proper paperwork to be there, the mob was anything but professional, and it, in itself, was an incident. Moreover, two people willing to discuss views peacefully are hardly "hostile."
But this is what happens when you babysit feelings from an administrative level. You get people willing to act on their feelings with little regard for what happens when they do.
