The NFL's Social Justice Messages Aren't Just Annoying, They Undermine Its Social Impact on Society

The NFL's decisions are bizarre, to say the least. Even as major corporations like Target are turning down their socio-political preaching, the NFL seems to want to not just cling to it, but elevate it further.

As I reported on Saturday, NFL teams are putting male cheerleaders on their squads, and I don't mean the kind that hoist up female cheerleaders and form a strength base for acrobatics. No, I'm talking about scrawny dudes who prance and do feminine, hip-based movements like the girls do, accompanying them during dance routines that are clearly geared toward a certain body type these male cheerleaders don't have.

But it doesn't stop there.

Remember the annoying messages they put on the ends of the fields or the back of the helmets? According to ESPN, they're back, and they're adding a few:

All 32 teams will feature an end zone message of their choice at each home game throughout the season, selecting from four options: "End Racism," "Stop Hate," "Choose Love" or "Inspire Change." Once again, "It Takes All of Us" will be stenciled in the opposite end zone for all games. The only change from 2024 is that "Inspire Change" replaces "Vote."

[...]

"We're working hand-in-hand with players, and alongside our clubs, to amplify player voices and underscore what is most important to them," Anna Isaacson, the NFL's senior vice president of social responsibility, told The Associated Press. "For decades, the NFL and its players have been a unifying force in American culture and society that brings people of all cultures and backgrounds together to enjoy America's most popular sport.

"This is an honor and responsibility that the league takes seriously, which is why we actively invest in off-field programs and on-field initiatives that promote unity."

The league will use "End Racism" along with "It Takes All of Us" in the back of end zones for all international games for the second straight season.

Now, you might be asking, "Who is this for?"

It's for you, because if the NFL doesn't shove these messages in your face, you'll suddenly transform into a 1960s Democrat screaming at black kids trying to enter a school and seeing what you look like with a white hood on in the mirror.

And if that sounds ridiculous to you, then you're a person with far more common sense than most of the NFL brass.

The thing is, the NFL is, by its nature, a fantastic representation of the American melting pot. It features people of every race, religion, and background coming together to work as a team, form a brotherhood, and achieve goals. This isn't hard for anyone to see because the bonds these team members have are plain as day. These were men who push themselves to achieve new heights, and they do so together. Their race is a minuscule part of who they are when all is said and done. It's about the character, the drive, and the talent.

And yet, here comes the NFL's C-suite to wag their finger at the country and pat themselves on the back for shoving obvious moral lessons in your face in a manner that is, frankly, insulting to everyone's intelligence.

Imagine sitting with your friends at a restaurant, enjoying your meal and minding your own business, when a person in an expensive suit and tie with a Gavin Newsom haircut walks up and says, "Hey, remember not to be racist." The reactions to it would range from confusion to disbelief, and likely no shortage of anger. The very implication is that everyone at the table is racist and needs to be reminded not to be.

The only proper response is to take it as an insult and tell the guy to shut up and walk on, or, at the very least, have the cajones to call you a racist to your face so the conversation can get a bit more real.

These geniuses don't understand that by doing this social justice virtue signaling, they're creating division.

The moment someone complains about these messages that we don't need, and in places they don't need to be, is the moment the activists, leftists, and race-baiters alike say that if you have a problem with it, the message is for you, effectively accusing you of racism. Suddenly, the fight becomes about racial issues, further sending the vibes around America that racism is still alive and well.

It's a cycle that race-baiters and Democrats alike get very wealthy on. Racism is a multi-billion-dollar industry, after all, and keeping the illusion that America is a racist country going is very important to leftists.

And that's kind of what the "End Racism" and other social justice phrasing does. It keeps "racism" alive in the United States, undermining the message it's supposed to convey.

The thing is, the vast majority of America has completely outgrown that era; the left just hasn't grown up at all.
