President Donald Trump anounced that Ric Grenell was moving on from heading up the Kennedy Center.
Trump praised the work he had done to improve the Center.
“Ric Grenell has done an excellent job in helping to coordinate various elements of the Center during the transition period, and I want to thank him for the outstanding work he has done,” Trump wrote. The Kennedy Center did not provide additional comment about Grenell’s departure.
Grenell explained that things were a mess when he came in.
“The books were a mess when I walked in. We were paying staff with debt reserves, we didn’t have money in the bank,” Grenell said during an interview on Fox News in November. [....]
Trump and his new Kennedy Center team have also claimed that the center was in grave disrepair — reporting broken elevators, rat infestations and crumbling concrete in the parking garage.
That's one of the reasons it's now been closed for renovations.

But the response from Grenell was savage. I think Sheldon is not used to being so completely upended. He's likely to remember this one.

We fixed it. And we are doing the right thing to close the entire place in a few weeks to renovate it - because of your years of neglect.
This Washington game of kicking the can down the road and never solving problems has ended with President Trump.
It doesn’t matter what you or the New York Times or CNN says. We are fixing the place that YOU ruined. It becomes a construction site for two years because you failed to keep up with the maintenance.
And we have a world-class construction leader to do it the right way. You are welcome.
Now that's a satisfying drubbing of the execrable Whitehouse, who certainly deserved it.
But the bottom line, as Grenell laid out, the Democrats, when they were in control, let the Center go to disrepair, and didn't give a darn. They only care now because they want to attack Trump - it's always their motivation for everything they do, even something that should be non-political, like the Center. If Joe Biden were in charge, they'd go back to being asleep and ignoring it.
