Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi did an interview with "Face the Nation" via Zoom, supposedly from Tehran.
There were some interesting highlights as you could see him parroting Democratic talking points against the Trump administration and Operation Epic Fury.
Aragchi used the Democratic terminology, calling it "a war of choice by President Trump and the United States," and he claimed that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, saying they would proceed with "no mercy," was a "war crime." That's another Democratic talking point.
So when the Democrats and our enemies are joined at the hip with what they are saying, you have to question what the Democrats are doing in fueling such propaganda at this time. They can't put aside the Trump hate, even when it could hurt our military effort.
Host Margaret Brennan did drop a little reality on him. She asked whether this was a war of survival? He scrambled to argue it wasn't, "No, it's not a war of survival. We have- we are- we are, you know, stable and strong enough."
Um, Foreign Minister? You're getting pounded into next week, and you've lost most of your military. Even Iran's internal security force, the Basij, is getting wiped out, with the help of tips from your own people. Your "Supreme Leader" Cardboard Mojtaba can't even show himself, and many don't even believe he's alive. Not exactly a shining light of "stability."
Aragchi insisted they had not closed the Strait of Hormuz. As we reported, he had previously said that it was open except to the U.S, Israel, and their allies. The U.S. doesn't have a lot that goes through the Strait; the main issue was the Asian markets. So if he was saying all those were going through, it's basically a huge cave.
Brennan asked about Iran's enriched uranium, and Aragchi said it was under, that they had no present plans to uncover it.
One of the most ridiculous moments came when Brennan asked him why he had access to the internet to talk to CBS, yet the people didn't have internet access.

"Well, I'm the voice- because I'm the voice of Iranians, and I have to defend their right," he claimed. "So this is why I have access to the internet to just, you know, have our voice being heard by the international community," He claimed the internet was closed for "security reasons, because we are under attack."
That takes some nerve when we know so many of the Iranian people are against the regime, with the regime oppressing and killing its people. Nobody else has to speak because the state is speaking for them. That's defending their rights? But that's the upside-down world Aragchi is trying to sell. And they restricted the internet before the start of Operation Epic Fury. So he's just straight up lying.
He also lied about just hitting "America targets" when Iran has hit non-military, non-American targets in the Gulf States, as Brennan said.
"But your drones are going into civilian areas and hitting plants and hotels and civilians," Brennan said.
Aragchi insisted this wasn't true, "No, no-no, no, no, no, this is not the fact. We are only targeting American assets, American installations, American military bases."
Even Brennan said to him it was going to hurt Iran "long term."
Hitting the Gulf States has now galvanized them against Iran. Here's a sample from the United Arab Emirates minister for foreign affairs, Anwar Gargash, where he rips Iran and Aragchi to shreds.

Following the brutal Iranian attack on the UAE in 1909, Mr. Abbas Araghchi emerged to accuse the UAE of aggression against Iran, as part of a confused policy that has misdirected its aim, lost its compass, and forsaken wisdom. The UAE has the right to self-defense in the face of this terrorist aggression imposed upon it, yet it continues to prioritize reason and logic, maintaining restraint and seeking an exit for Iran and the region. In his justification, Araghchi has condemned his own country, entrenched its isolation, and exposed its aggression, all while knowing that the UAE exerted sincere efforts until the very last moment to mediate between Washington and Tehran to avert this war.
I don't think the Gulf States are going to be happy with Aragchi's words about them.
