Stories are important for a culture. They are a way we've imparted values and upheld ideals since time immemorial. We tell our children stories with lessons buried within them in order to help them become good people. We use stories to get people to see issues or points they might not have seen before. When Jesus wanted to make a point, he told a story.
When you really break it down, the culture war is a war over stories and how these stories are told. Entire cultures, including our own, are built on stories both real and fictional. The 1619 Project was, at its heart, an attempt to normalize a retelling of the American story to make it sound more villainous. Lord of the Rings was an epic tale that solidified the backbone of Western culture, and as I speak, attempts to destroy that backbone or underway by major corporations.
Ruining these stories, especially for fresh generations who consume media differently than previous generations, can erode pride, respect, and alignment with cultural values, and it's very easy to do.
All you have to do is destroy the "logic" of that universe. The "logic" of a universe is effectively the rules by which it operates by.
Let's take Star Wars, for instance. According to the logic of the Star Wars universe, not everyone is force sensitive, and it's very rare to find someone who is. Anakin Skywalker was an immaculate birth, done so by the will of the force, and this is part of what led to the galactic struggle that ended with the balancing of the force. Disney recently threw all that out the window with "The Acolyte," and now immaculate births can happen because lesbian space witches performed a stupid chant. Oh, and anyone can use the force now.
Disney's writers broke the logic of the Star Wars universe, and now all the things that mattered before don't matter anymore. If a huge part of what made that universe so interesting doesn't matter anymore, then the universe has largely lost its appeal. Fans will walk away, and the universe will lose the backbone that kept it going for so many decades.

If you're into gaming like I am, you've likely seen the latest news about "The Witcher 4." For those of you unfamiliar, "The Witcher" is a book series written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, which involves a man named Geralt of Rivia, who has strengths and abilities beyond that of normal men thanks to being a "Witcher." Witchers hunt monsters such as werewolves, striga, basilisks, harpies, etc., and these books became popular enough to spawn a video game series, the third entry of which is considered to be one of the greatest games of all time.
It's a fantastic epic fantasy story with magic, monsters, swords, and sorcery, but according to recent news, the Witcher 4 developers are going to break in-universe rules in order to make one of the core female characters stronger, and make the main character, Geralt, more or less irrelevant. T:hey're going to give her his powers, which breaks in-universe logic, so that they can have a female main character and, according to news, put a focus on women's struggles in the universe of "The Witcher."
Forget fighting wyverns and griffons. Let's talk about the patriarchy, and while we do that, let's just go ahead and break the logic of the universe to find a way to fit a narrative that has no value to anyone except a very small group of ideologically rigid lunatics.
This brings us to Dungeons & Dragons, one of the most long-lasting and beloved games in Western culture. Either everyone in my audience plays or has played, or knows someone who does. It's been a way for people to get together and partake in stories, use their imagination, and create adventures. So successful is D&D that it's spawned movies (one better than others), been featured in songs by popular bands, and entire YouTube channels have generated millions of dollars by simply filming their play through of campaigns.
But even D&D has a universal logic that allowed for the game, and the universe, to be fun to play in. Thanks to modernity and woke intrusion, D&D has also had its universal logic broken in a huge way, according to Fox News:
"Races" are now "species" in the beloved game Dungeons & Dragons, which recently marked its 50th anniversary, irking some loyal fans.
"Some character traits have been divorced from biological identity; a mountain dwarf is no longer inherently brawny and durable, a high elf no longer intelligent and dexterous by definition," a report in The New York Times explains. "And Wizards of the Coast, the Dungeons & Dragons publisher owned by Hasbro, has endorsed a trend throughout role-playing games in which players are empowered to halt the proceedings if they ever feel uncomfortable."
The company also now suggests that extended Dungeons & Dragons campaigns begin with sessions allowing players to lay out their expectations and which topics they wish to avoid, which could include sexual assault or drug use, the Times writes.
"What they’re trying to do here is put up a signal flare, to not only current players but potential future players, that this game is a safe, inclusive, thoughtful and sensitive approach to fantasy storytelling," said Ryan Lessard, a writer and frequent Dungeons & Dragons dungeon master, according to the report.
So now, not only do the races not matter in how the game is played or what abilities you might specialize in, the story itself can also be stopped at any moment because a player feels "uncomfortable." Moreover, players can effectively ruin a story's depth by making sure certain aspects of it are off the table. This is effectively saying that the logic of this universe is now "whatever we say it is," which is no logic at all.
Now, stories will have no stakes, no hurdles, and no depth. Luckily, players can go by old rule books so they don't have to play with this updated nonsense, but regardless, you can see how this kind of thing weakens, not just the story, but people. It makes them softer, unable to handle conflict both external and internal. It reduces them to emotionally stunted children, encouraging weakness.
Not exactly fertile ground for a strong culture.
You might ask why the corporations who own these brands and franchises would do something so stupid as to ruin these things people have loved by destroying them. It's because there are so many things pulling on them. ESG scores must be met, activist employees terrorize the corporation with socio-political retribution from within, and CEOs, ignorant of what they have, think they're making the product more approachable to a wider audience, and thus more potential for earnings.
But at the center of this is the socio-political destruction of these brands that people love so much in order to push a message and an agenda. Destruction of these things means the termination of something Western culture found its identity in. These stories will no longer be there to uphold it, confer its value to the young, and teach morals and time-proven virtues. These stories will now convey modern sentiments from a small group of radicals seeking to spread their mental illness and perverted sense of morality as far as they can.
This is pure rot. It has no real value. It's not meant to build up even the things it's advocating for. Its end is purely destructive.
In a way, by destroying the logic of those universes, they're destroying the logic of culture. If they succeed, then there is no more Western culture. The greatness it creates will wither and disappear, and the world will be set back to a time of barbarity, tyranny, and injustice.
The culture war is, and will continue to be, one of the most important battlefields of mankind. Victory isn't just about saving a brand or even a story, it's about upholding civilization.
