Perhaps unsurprisingly, COVID is making a comeback in the media, which means masks and vaccine mandates are on the lips of every left-leaning politician and official in every corner of the country.
As RedState's Bob Hoge reported, Rutgers is already pushing vaccine mandates on its staff and students to some very severe backlash.
Matt Dempsey noted on Wednesday morning that Lionsgate Studios reinstated a mask mandate as well as Morris Brown College in Atlanta. But you can really tell COVID fearmongering is making a comeback by the way the Biden administration is beginning to increase its COVID talk, spreading fear about its return.
People aren't stupid. They know that COVID is only making a comeback because the 2024 elections are now in sight and the Democrats need something to coral voters with. Nothing makes people vote for Democrats quite like fear, so the quest to spread it with an old boogieman begins now.
As I previously wrote about the left's politics of fear and loathing:
It’s pretty easy to understand why they want to use fear so often. When someone is afraid they naturally do a few things. Fearful people feel isolated and begin seeking help. They want quick solutions that return their world to some sort of stability.
A predatory person can waltz in with a “solution” that promises to restore control to the situation in some way, shape, or form, and the fearful person is just susceptible enough to accept this “solution.” For the left, the “solution” is always for the fearful to give up some control of their own lives to authority or some sort of collective. It also allows them to place blame on the creation of said fear on a person or group, creating an “us vs them” attitude resulting in more control out of fear of a threat.
The issue for Democrats is that COVID measures were wildly unpopular by the time the dust had settled. It had cost the livelihoods of millions of Americans, caused a radical uptick in depression thanks to lockdowns, and possibly more damaging than all of them was the fact that children suffered academically at the hands of Democrat-favored school rules be it remote schooling or forced mask-wearing at school.
In fact, by the time the government had declared the pandemic was over, the people had already declared it long ago and had either stopped complying with COVID measures or were actively fighting against them. The vaccines had become unpopular as it became clearer that they carried risks of their own.
That's not even mentioning the fact that pharmaceutical companies were working with social media outlets to censor people who spoke out against their products.
The Democrats returning to their own vomit is a bold strategy but it's not a good one. Reinstating these rules may go over well with the radicals, the obedient, and the fearful, but for everyone else, the "I WILL NOT COMPLY" attitude is strong. For every attempt to force measures on the people in the name of slowing the spread, a rebellion will spark and Democrats will now have to deal with the PR nightmare of physical and ideological abandonment just like the last time they pushed COVID measures.
The anti-Democrat attitude doesn't even have to grow. It's already here. In fact, it's still fresh in the minds of many voters.

But it's not like the Democrats have a choice. Normally during a presidential election, they would activate Black Lives Matter and have people rally around the party against those "racist, bigoted, hateful" Republicans, but the jig is up with that fake organization. It's mired in so much controversy and scandal that it's eating itself alive. Moreover, it's pretty clear that the attitude of the general public toward it is becoming firey and less than peaceful.
No one wants to be the next town burned to the ground.

Moreover, with its attempts at trying to make climate change the new COVID being laughed at and denounced, the last fear card it has to play is COVID. Thing is, if they try to force more COVID fears on the public, it could be the catalyst that gets people to turn away, ultimately shooting the Democrats square in the foot and costing them big in the 2024 election.
It really speaks to the nature of the Democrat Party. Their arguments are crap, their politicians are useless, and their agenda has been a pox on the country. The only way they can now get people to fall in line and pull the lever is to make them afraid.
If anything, this attempt to relive the glory days of COVID control exposes the Democrat's desperation and uselessness.
