I’ve been watching the unfolding of the social justice ideology since 2013. I witnessed it go from a fringe bit of insanity relegated to Tumblr blogs and extremist thinking more or less relegated to college quads, to mainstream mentality that has infected nearly every aspect of life. The idea that it would stay a fringe mentality of the young and dissipate once they left the classrooms and hit the real world was proven wrong, and the extremism seeped into corporations, Hollywood, and school boards.
This isn’t just an ideology. It’s a near-religious belief instilled into the young. They don’t see this as political or economic. They see this as life. They truly believe that their hate-filled, authoritarian, and wildly divisive way of thinking is moral. They push it aggressively on others and will go so far as to destroy their friends, family, and peers in order to ensure that their beliefs are dominant.
The genius part of how they were instilled with this level of zealotry was that it wasn’t pushed on them from a point of intellectualism. They weren’t taught to push this through philosophical debate or logistical reasoning. They were taught that this is the ultimate morality and was given the idea that every other kind of philosophy or ideology was dangerous.
In order to reinforce this, those professors and activists created the idea of a “safe space” or islands of goodness, acceptance, and fairness amid the evils of the capitalist, racist, sexist, phobic world on the outside. In reality, they were fictitious bubbles where their radical ideas could go unchallenged. They began as rooms on campuses, but this ideology demanded that they spread their gospel by force to the rest of the campus. The idea that the entire university should be a safe space took root and before you know it, protests began popping up all over the country at various universities with various radical professors even taking part.
You’ll likely remember the Mizzou incident where one professor even called for “muscle” to remove a student journalist attempting to cover a rally.
Other students began policing other students’ behavior and manner of dress, becoming unofficial hall monitors and enforcing their will through intimidation and bullying.
At Evergreen College, those infected with social justice ideology became violent to the point of carrying around bats in order to enforce their will and even held faculty hostage at one point.
These students would eventually leave college and went on to infect their workplaces with this mentality. You would quickly see their work altar the way major corporations conducted themselves, various policies they’d implement that made little to no sense on the surface until you realized that the pressure being put on them came from within, and from former radicalized students like these.
It’s ironic that these ideologues are so on the offensive when their entire MO is making the entire country, if not the world, a safe space. Through their ignorance and myopia, they destroy, bully, and intimidate. They want you to fear them. They want to make it dangerous to oppose them or cross them, even if unintentionally.
Their “safe space” isn’t safe at all, it’s just areas they’ve managed to bring under their control through societal conquest.
We used to think they would be shocked and intimidated into quivering messes once they were forced to deal with the real world, but these aren’t just spoiled children. These are spoiled children turned into zealots who will literally burn your city down if they don’t get their way. What’s more, they do it with a clear conscience because they do all of this evil from a position of moral authority. They truly believe themselves to be the good guys. This is the most dangerous of all tyrannies as C.S. Lewis warned us:
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be “cured” against one’s will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.”
This is an evil that doesn’t understand its evil. It’s an evil that thinks it can only make the world safe once it conquers and dominates everything and everyone.
