Chris Pratt is an actor that gets quite a bit of heat from the leftist mobs on social media. He checks all the wrong boxes for a celebrity. He’s white, male, Christian, and patriotic; four of the greatest sins in mainstream culture today. Thing is, everyone else loves him, and for a very good reason. He’s a good actor, has a great sense of humor, and appreciates what others have done for him.
On Memorial Day, Pratt proved, once again, that he understands that he is where he is because people died and shed blood for him. He honors our troops, noting that they “altered the course of the world for the better,” and listing the Union Army’s victory over the Confederate Army, America’s part in defeating Hitler and the Nazis, and our special operators hunting down those who caused 9/11.
“We count the names of each fallen soldier lest they be countless,” wrote Pratt. “They are the good guys. They run to the sound of gunfire. They know pain and suffering we never will. They have given us the most free and decent society planet earth has ever seen.”
Pratt made it clear that we need to keep this kind of appreciation in our hearts lest we take the freedom we’ve been given for granted and lose it.
“We run the risk of losing that decency when we fail to instill gratitude in the minds of our youth or the perspective of what it actually means to be free- should they never learn of the selfless sacrifice of our armed service members in the face of oppressive evil,” wrote Pratt.
Pratt knows he’s a target for the left and that this post would cause a lot of teeth-gnashing and foot-stomping. Instead of just trying to ignore them, he addressed them directly in his post, cutting them off before they even have a moment to bash and trash this country and those in our armed forces who died for them.
“And if you use the comments section on posts like this to bitch and moan about America please understand there are countries in the world where criticizing your government will get you killed or imprisoned,” Pratt wrote. “Criticism is a right and necessity in amending the flawed systems of man. So by all means, let your voice be heard. But never forget your right to free expression is paid for in blood.”

Doubtless, Pratt’s post is going to cause something of a backlash in his comments section. Any compliment to our military or appreciation expressed of the freedom they gave to us is like agitating the wasp hive. If you have any influence over the people whatsoever, as Pratt does, this sin is doubled.
But regardless of how angry they get, he’s completely correct. Without the sacrifices of the men and women, these people who say they hate these men and women wouldn’t have the option. The world today would be a vastly different place where freedom as we know it would be replaced with a very fascistic, state-controlled lifestyle where dissension wouldn’t be tolerated.
It’s only through the sacrifices of those who put on a uniform and stand in front of us as both sword and shield do we enjoy the life that we do.
God bless Pratt for standing up for what’s right in such a public way. It’s not easy to do in this day and age but he doesn’t let it stop him.
