The Democrat Party Still Has Some Sanity Left

Regardless of what many people might think after having read my articles over the years, I don’t have it in me to hate Democrats in general. There are individuals within the party that I can’t help but loathe with every fiber of my being, but I’ve known many Democrats throughout my time on this Earth, and many of them are decent, well-meaning people.

In the age of the internet, the most extreme views have been able to take center stage. We’ve effectively seen the emergence of racism we thought we put away after the civil rights era with open racism against white people, calls for segregation from the social justice community, and racist concepts like “cultural appropriation” coming to the forefront.

The leader of the Democrat party can literally say “if you don’t vote for me then you ain’t black,” and a leftist comedian can literally say she reminded a black man that his blackness prohibits him from supporting a Republican, and mainstream Democrats won’t bat an eye.

Today’s mainstream Democrat party is fully okay with backing communist groups like Black Lives Matter, support calls to defund the police, and even promote socialism. Attacks on free speech are pretty standard fare, and the idea of getting rid of guns in our nation makes them salivate.

Democrats run the gambit from embracing the extreme parts of the party’s platform to be what I call “non-practicing Democrats,” or people who call themselves Democrat but know nothing about politics and don’t vote anyway.

In congress, they also have a range, but it’s become increasingly lopsided to the left. Nowadays, even moderates on the left seem more like Republicans than Democrats.

Take, for instance, Hawaii congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard. If Gabbard was to run against a Republican in a red state, it’s not likely that she’d pull out a win, but regardless, many on the right have taken a liking to her. It’s not hard to see why, either.

Despite the fact that Gabbard differs from right-leaning voters on quite a few issues, she’s not too shabby on her opinion on keeping America’s rights intact.

“I strongly support this Supreme Court ruling defending our First Amendment/freedom of religion,” tweeted Gabbard on Monday. “While COVID may temporarily require certain public health restrictions, houses of worship MUST be treated same as secular institutions—not more harshly/strictly.”

In just one tweet, Gabbard separated herself from the hard-left that has taken her party by storm. She not only defended the First Amendment, but she also spoke out in favor of religious freedoms.

West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin also put his foot down on the extremists in the party, effectively telling them that there will be no defunding of the police or implementing socialism so long as he’s in office.

“Defund the police? Defund, my butt. I’m a proud West Virginia Democrat. We are the party of working men and women,” tweeted Manchin. “We want to protect Americans’ jobs & healthcare. We do not have some crazy socialist agenda, and we do not believe in defunding the police.”

Gabbard and Manchin demonstrate that even in Democratic circles, there is still some semblance of America on the left.

Why do I write this?

Because the iron is hot to forge a new Republican party, and all we need to do is use the extremism of the current Democrat party to bring some of these Democrats over to the right.

While Manchin or Gabbard may never switch parties, some of their followers very well might. Minds can be changed on many an issue, be it gun control or abortion. The points just have to be made.

We need to put some very real emphasis on the extremism and fringe tendencies of the new Democratic party, especially now as these fringe elements attempt to paint what they believe and do as the “new normal.”

There is no “new normal,” just old tactics by an old enemy of America that have finally begun to pay off. Exposing them for what they are may be the final straw that breaks the camel’s back and send would-be Democrat voters to the right.

We won’t get all of them, but every vote counts if we’re going to hold on to America. Even if that comes from a portion of the Democrat party that still has some sanity in it.
