Trump's Already Predicted the Media's Ridiculous Reaction to Biden's Performance During the Debates

President Donald Trump isn’t a precog. No one can see into the future, but regardless, the left is anything but unpredictable. As such, we can accurately predict how the media will react to Joe Biden’s performance on the debate stage.

Trump did just that on Hugh Hewitt’s show on Tuesday.

According to the Daily Wire, Hewitt raised the subject about Biden’s ability to debate but noted that all he has to do is stand upright for a little while and the media will declare him the victor.

“The expectations of the vice president are being lowered by the hour. I think if he just stands up for an hour, that will lead the media to declare him a winner. I appreciate that you nominated me to be a moderator. I don’t think the debate commission will give you anyone remotely close to being as tough on Biden as they are on you. Do you think they’re lowering expectations for Joe Biden for the debates?”

Trump said that he’s not going to lower his own expectations for Biden, which is wise. He noted that he saw Biden debate Bernie Sanders and didn’t do half bad, but Trump said that he “wouldn’t say he was Winston Churchill.”

“But you know the way it is, the fake news,” continued Trump. “If he stands up, and if he is able to breathe, and if he’s able to walk off the platform, they’ll say it was one of the greatest debate performances in history.”

“These, the fake news is corrupt, and it’s a disgrace,” said Trump. “And it’s now rated lower than Congress. At least in my mind, it’s rated lower than anything. But I’ve seen things from the fake news that someday I’ll tell you some things you wouldn’t even believe. These are corrupt people. So if he goes and debates; if he said. ‘Yes, I had a wonderful breakfast, thank you for asking the question,’ they’ll give him, they’ll say it was one of the greatest answers in history.”

Trump said he had gotten a lot of this kind of treatment when he debated Hillary Clinton, but noted that at least Clinton was smart according to the Daily Wire.

Impossible to see, the future is, but judging by how the media makes everything the Democrats do look like it’s the masterwork of highly skilled and intelligent people, it’s not hard to predict that they will do everything in their power to make Biden’s debate skills sound as beautiful and moving as a Broadway performance, no matter how bumbling and incoherent it is.

They can try to sell it like that, and while it may convince some, it’s not likely to work on most. As reported by The Federalist recent poll found that the majority of Americans believe the media to be ideological salesmen trying to convince you to join on with their political cause:

Eighty-six percent of Americans believe there is “a great deal” or “a fair amount” of political bias in the way the media covers news, according to a Knight Foundation/Gallup poll released on Tuesday. The number of Americans that see bias in the media is up almost 25 percentage points from 62 percent in 2007. Almost half of Americans — 49 percent — now say there’s a great deal of political bias in news coverage.

While Republicans are more likely to say there’s a “great deal” of bias and Democrats more often said there was a “fair amount,” large majorities of both political parties believed that some bias existed: 78 percent of Democrats and 94 percent of Republicans.

These numbers were collected from polling of more than 20,000 Americans between November and February, even before the COVID-19 pandemic, the death of George Floyd, and the resulting media coverage of both events.

Defending Biden’s horrific performance isn’t going to help their cause at all, but let’s not interrupt our enemy while they make mistakes.
