The NFL Turning Its Back On Colin Kaepernick Shows Us the Fruits of Social Justice

Everything that you’re owed comes around. Maybe it takes a day, maybe it takes a few years, but every action you have has some sort of reaction. In Colin Kaepernick’s case, his actions have finally brought what he’s owed around.

And what he was owed was nothing. Absolutely nothing.

According to the Reuters, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has said the league has “moved on” from Colin Kaepernick after the former San Francisco 49ers player skipped a special workout planned just for him:

“This was about creating an opportunity,” Goodell told reporters on Wednesday, at a league meeting. “We created that opportunity. It was a unique opportunity, a credible opportunity and he chose not to take it. I understand that.

“We’ve moved on.”

The workout in question was supposed to have happened in November. The Atlanta Falcons stadium was going to be opened to Kaepernick with scouts in attendance.

However, just hours before the workout was supposed to happen, Kaepernick switched venues to a high school outside of Atlanta due to a beef he had with the NFL’s free-agent contract agreement. Kaepernick also wanted his own media team there to film his workout, but the NFL denied him that, saying that the Atlanta Falcons media team would film it and distribute it to all 32 teams.

The NFL offered Kaepernick an opportunity to return to the league, but Kaepernick chose victimhood, which is par for the course for him.

This was best put by Sports Ceneter’s Stephen Smith who took to social media and released a short video expressing his anger about Kaepernick’s decision to play martyr instead of athlete.

“See, he don’t want to play. He wants to be a martyr,” said Smith, “but guess what? It ain’t working this time.”

“All of us believe that Colin Kaepernick would have showed out, and if he had showed out, I believe he would have had a job inside of two weeks,” Smith said. “But it didn’t happen, because he didn’t show. He wanted to show up at a high school in Georgia, not an NFL facility…and then YouTube it live.”

As Smith noted, if Kaepernick had put away his pride, stop the complaining, and did the work, he would have elevated himself. This self-elevation would have brought him to places where he could further help others, which was his self-professed reasoning for kneeling during the anthem in the first place.

As I’ve said ad nauseum, however, social justice warriors like Kaepernick aren’t really out for others, they’re out for themselves. Kaepernick accomplishes nothing by rejecting the workout provided for him. He has rejected a platform and influence by turning his back on it.

In fact, what he was trying to accomplish by skipping the workout is beyond me. The only logical conclusion I can come to with the information that’s been given so far is that he was attempting to paint himself as the victim of the NFL in order to garner media attention. This media attention would have put pressure on the NFL and other organizations into giving Kaepernick whatever he wanted.

It clearly didn’t work and Kaepernick didn’t come off well.

It’s here, however, that we see the clear result of social justice activism; harm.

Kaepernick did harm to his legacy, his career, and his cause. What’s more, anyone that Kaepernick could have helped will now go without it because of his selfishness.

The fruits of social justice have been marked continuously by failure, be it in entertainment, sports, and activism. Organizations like the “Women’s March” has fallen apart and its leadership fired over their selfish prejudices. Anita Sarkeesian, a feminist cultural critic, is now going broke due to her inability to carry out what she duped thousands of people into giving her money for, which was simply to make videos about feminism. Movies like Charlie’s Angels, which set out to empower women, failed at the box office due to the divisiveness of its social justice driven director, Elizabeth Banks.

Even the NFL lost 33 percent of its audience during the year when players followed Kaepernick’s lead and began kneeling during the national anthem. Now that the NFL has ditched the politics, the league is seeing a massive comeback in terms of viewers and participants.

Kaepernick, like most social justice warriors, is now reaping what he sewed. Since social justice is really a hollow bunch of nothing, he’s getting nothing in return.

I hope the world is paying attention.
